Denied entrance and discrimination due to service dog

We went to the Venice West this evening to see Carl Denson's Tiny Universe. It's been many years since I last saw them and also the fellow musicians in his band.

Got there early and the bouncer guy told us that we could not bring in our little Maltipoo. We have brought her with us everywhere including the Venice West with absolutely no problems. She is a service dog and she is necessary to accompany my friend. Then they said the show was sold out but we can wait until 8:00 PM (which is when the show was supposed to start) to see if we could get in on the wait list.

In the meantime we went across the street to get the to eat. I checked online and there were actually tickets available so that told me we were lied to. Nonetheless we went back and was told that the manager had to approve the dog coming in (even though the bouncer guy had earlier claimed to be the manager). We waited and waited outside even past 8:00 PM and were then told the show does not start until 8:45 PM.

Finally after waiting over 45 minutes the manager Jenn Tomich came down. She was both disrespectful and rude! She interrogated us and was just so unpleasant just because we had a cute little service dog. She and the bouncer guy kept insisting that the music was too loud for her even though we stated that she has been to many many shows with us.

We would never do anything remotely to harm her! Plus Carl Denson is a jazz/funk musician and his music is far from being loud! Its not heavy metal!!! It started going back and forth and she kept putting us down and even smiling and laughing in response to what we told her!

There was absolutely no getting anywhere with her and I for one would not subject myself to such uncalled for disrespect!!! Actually I was also planning on going there on Saturday for another show... But I will never ever step inside this place ever again! There are soooo many wonderful nice venues in LA to check out live music and basically have my pick.

This is not how you treat paying customers if you want to stay in business!

I could only be content in the fact that I controlled myself and never once was disrespectful to her! Respect is most important to me and also to be kind and nice to others even though that is not being shown to me.
