Verified ReviewerResolved: Incompetent Company Management
- - I am a long-time subscriber to FWW and FHB.
- - Outsourcing to Omeda led to a $60 charge in 2022 with no notice and a 2025 cancellation.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund. Company finally got employees involved rather than the company's contract "fulfillment" contractor.
Wrote emails with all the details of previous correspondence documenting the incompetence and arrogance of their contractor.
Records are very important, so keep on file what has gone on previously. When overcharged or cheated by a company for online purchases, get your credit card involved immediately by filing a dispute of charges.
Then, in 2021, Taunton outsourced its subscription and billing to a company called Omeda. My bill for the unlimited access digital subscription has never been straight since.
In 2022, without notice, my credit card was billed for almost $60 by something called "Continuity," which turned out to be Omeda. I wrote Taunton, and they straighten it out, confirming my lifetime charge for the digital access would be $14.95/year. Then, in September 2024, I got the high charge again, and could no longer get to the old Taunton people because Taunton had been bought out by Active Interest Media (AIM).
Omeda agreed to rebate some of my bill for the September 2024-**** year but cautioned that the "legacy" memberships had been eliminated and I would get the full charge the next year.
But it did not take Omeda that long to screw that up. I found, in June 2025, that I no longer had access to the digital content.
No notice or any other comment from anyone associated with the company--they just cancelled my subscription and kept my money.
Regrettably, I am looking at the end of my more than 50 year association with FWW and FHB. When a venerable old company is bought by conglomerates that seek to monetize every aspect of the old company, and maintain a "customer service" public face with a contractor as incompetent as Omeda, it is simply not worth the hassle to continue to see AIM squeeze the life out of the old publications.
User's recommendation: FWW and FHB are still the best on the market, but are fast eroding. I recommend that you look to other cheaper alternatives.
Terrible customer experience
- - Latest version image quality makes text unreadable.
- - Emails since early 2023; no follow-up.
- - Ask Taunton to take ownership and resolve this.
I've been a subscriber for decades and a purchaser of the archive since its initial release. I'm PC savvy but have had issues with the most recent version's image quality being too poor for the text to be legible.
I've sent dozens of emails since early 2023 and been given promises I'd be contacted for troubleshooting but no one has reached out.
I tried yet again today to get a live person only to be lost on transfer after a long wait. Please assist me in finding someone at Taunton who will take ownership of this issue and help a long time customer become a happy customer again.
User's recommendation: Great magazine, digital support needs some work. PissedConsumer quickly got their attention, and a temporary solution was found.

- - $14.95 monthly charge for an unknown digital subscription.
- - They canceled but refused a refund; they don't track usage.
- - Stay away from TAUNTON.
Going through my credit card bill, i saw a monthly charge for $ 14.95. Apparently, it was for a digital subscription service that i had no knowledge of.
They did agree to cancel the subscription, but refused to refund me. The agent actually said that they don't track if an account is used, they just continue to bill for as long as they can until someone notices it.
Stay away from TAUNTON!
- Customer service
Preferred solution: Full refund
