The Tapestry House -

The Tapestry House Owned by: Anne Dickens Website: A Review by Carol Walker In starting this review of The Tapestry House, a site that hawks tapestry reproductions on the Net, I discovered that the site's owner – Anne Dickens – heralds that the New York Times recommended her business. Eager to see what the Times had to say about The Tapestry House and Anne Dickens, I accessed the story that does reference the business. I had hoped that a sterling review from the Times would make my job all the easier. Unfortunately, what I discovered is that the Times references The Tapestry House as being a source for wall coverings to assist in reducing the noises of the city that can seep into even the better insulated properties. In short, the Times tells us that if you have a noise problem in your loft, get a wall hanging from The Tapestry House to muffle the noise. In taking a look at the products and services of The Tapestry House I was underwhelmed to say the least. Indeed, the Times is spot on when it notes that the products available at The Tapestry House are decent for reducing street noises. However, if you are like me and want stylish decor in your home, The Tapestry House is not the place to shop. The Tapestry House offers a person with taste nothing of note. The website retailer has a selection of items that you would find more appropriately hung in a subway station or the back room of pub than in the living room of your home. While the items available for sale at The Tapestry House can be functional when it comes to noise reduction (perhaps), you actually can purchase tasteful tapestries and other wall pieces from reputable merchants that can serve the same purpose. In short, you do not have to resign yourself to the scrappy offerings of The Tapestry House merely because you have a noise problem in your residence. Of course, many people say that you cannot judge a book by its cover. However, in the case of home design, decoration and decor, one simply assumes that the website of such a merchant would be attractively designed. Such is not the case with The Tapestry House. The site is an utter mess – unattractive, unappealing and unprofessional. In this case, not only can you judge the book by its cover, the cover is the book.
