Over billing and inefficient
This firm has a real problem with overbilling and dragging out cases (so as to get more legal fees). After 30K in bills in only 3 months I fired Rotolo and went to a mediator, who settled quickly. It turned out he just dragged things out unnecessarily. It was very painful for my child, and that was her college money. Items in the bill include being charged for several lawyers to confer about a simple case (so I was, in effect, paying 1K an hour). Meetings with the other attorney (a buddy of his) that never got anywhere. All the while, I got no solid advice or help on custody.

Extremely disappointed with representation and extremely dishonest as to his credentials. When I met him, he bragged about his years of experience and how many trials he has handled. Yet when it came time to go to court, found that all of his claims about his actual experience was false and he has not actually tried a single case to conclusion in years. Despite all of his plaques on his walls, he was lazy and ill prepared. If you really need a trial lawyer, who actually has trial experience, he is not the lawyer for you. I learned the hard way.... my suggestion is that if you meet with him, ask him to specifically tell you the names of the cases that he has tried to conclusion in the past 1, 3 & 5 years ( and the name of the judge and adversary).... and willing to bet that he either refuses to provide it or sidesteps the issue. Told me that he has tried hundreds of cases...lies and more lies. Stay away at all cost. terrible lawyer.

To Jane in Philadelphia-
I first want to say that we take complaints about our services very seriously. As such, we have searched our files to see where there was a charge of $30K in a three-month period for a custody case because that would be very unusual.
We did not find any cases where an amount of $30K was charged in three months for a custody case. Additionally, we have not handled any cases in Philadelphia nor have we ever handled any custody cases for a “Jane” so we are unable to address your complaint specifically.
The aim of our firm is to make every attempt to settle a matter amicably so as to keep costs down while obtaining the best results for our clients. Our clients receive a very detailed, monthly statement which includes all fees and costs incurred for that month, and a client is free to terminate our services at any time.
In addition, our clients are always free to discuss their bills with us directly, and we never received any such request from a client on this type of matter.
If you have a true compliant and wish to discuss this further with me, you are free to contact me directly. I am happy to discuss the matter with you and address any complaint you may have.
