Unenforced lease agreements and exposure to cannabis/Tobacco smoke

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

If you love smoking outside, especially cannabis, this is the place for you! If you are a non-smoker, have children, or worry about the harmful effects of secondary smoke, please stay away!

This is an old place and if your neighbor smokes, it WILL come into your home regardless of every door and window being closed. Currently, we have 80% of our windows covered in plastic, as well as the sliding glass door, due to a smoking neighbor who just moved in, and it is still entering our home. So, on those beautiful days when you would love some fresh air, forget it! You will suck in cancer causing tobacco smoke and the lovely smell of skunk cannabis - plus you will not be able to enjoy your own balcony.

Also, if you have any issues with your neighbors, tough luck! The office and the property manager will simply disregard any complaint unless they can be sued for it, even though your legally signed lease states that they will respond to your concerns, including odor, noise, barking dog, etc. The response will be, Get a lawyer. Furthermore, you have only one parking spot under the covered garage, and that is the only spot that will be enforced.

Otherwise, parking is not enforced and believe me, all the company trucks that are supposedly forbidden will be in the parking lot. Even vehicles without a reliant parking sticker wont be towed. Oh, there are signs everywhere, but it will be your responsibility to call the tow company. Management only send emails to the residents, advising on the policy.

If you get home later in the evening, there will be no open spots available to park your second vehicle. Now, if you have a Pitbull, Husky, Shepherd, or other banned dog, this is the place for you! They don't enforce this, nor do they enforce you cleaning up after your animal. Oh sure, its in the lease, but again, don't expect it to be enforced and definitely stay off the grass.

Sure, the office girls will do their best to help, but they will be ignored, and the problems will continue. The only thing you can count on is them pocketing your monthly rent. If I can stop one family from going through our horrible ordeal, I will have served my purpose. There is a reason that this place is currently at 2 1/2 stars.

And Lennox, dont bother to respond and pretend you are working on this complaint, because we already received your answer, which was basically, get over it! The response from the risk management office is that there is nothing they can do, even though our signed lease states otherwise.

Pros:
  • Great for smokers and people with banned dog breeds
Cons:
  • Will not enforce the lease and you may need a lawyer

Preferred solution: I would like them to abide by and enforce the terms and conditions of the lease agreement

User's recommendation: Unless you are a smoker of cannabis/tobacco, do not rent here!
