Unprofessional, Childish
I corresponded with this seller about an iPhone on Swappa.com. I asked him a few questions about one of the products he was selling.
He decided to cut the conversation short and told me to take my business elsewhere for reasons that were unclear. The lack of professionalism that resulted is something I've rarely encountered. Below is the exchange. ------------------------------------ Me - Jan 07, 2018 - 10:38 AM Question for ya!
I use Selectel, an MVNO. They require an IMEI number to tell me if the phone will work for sure. Is there anyway you can give me that number so I can check before I buy? Thanks!
The iPhone Guy Seller - Jan 07, 2018 - 10:44 AM United States (US) Selected uses Verizon towers. This iPhone will Work, no problem. Me - Jan 07, 2018 - 10:51 AM I see that you have a 7 day return policy, so if the phone doesn't work I can just return in that time frame? Also, how long does the battery last on a charge?
The iPhone Guy Seller - Jan 07, 2018 - 10:53 AM United States (US) Yes, if it doesn't work. Can return within timeframe. Battery test within Apple standards. Me - Jan 07, 2018 - 11:00 AM What are Apple standards?
Do you mean it lasts as long a new iphone 6s would? The iPhone Guy Seller - Jan 07, 2018 - 11:01 AM United States (US) I'm not going back and forth about an iPhone man. It's an iPhone with no issues. Simply look else where for your purchase.
Me - Jan 07, 2018 - 11:10 AM If that was going to be your attitude, why didn't you say that you would get irritated about questions about your products up front? Battery life is an issue with used phones, so I need to know about it, and I need to know about MVNO compatibility. I had no reason to think that you would have an issue with questions. Bad customer service, "man." Be up front or don't answer at all; it's a waste of both of our times.
The iPhone Guy Seller - Jan 07, 2018 - 11:13 AM United States (US) If a battery test within Apple standards, there is NO battery issue guy. Do not buy from us. You will be refunded right away. Please look else where.
You a risk to sell to. The iPhone Guy Seller - Jan 07, 2018 - 11:35 AM United States (US) Haha. Good luck with your purchase. You going to need it.
Me - Jan 07, 2018 - 11:35 AM How am I supposed to know what "Apple standard" means? I've never heard anyone ever use that term. With an attitude like yours, you're a risk to buy from. I'm not a risk to sell to, you just don't like to answer questions.
Just admit it, "guy." Maybe you ought to find a desk job where you don't have to deal with customers. That might suit you better. Me - Jan 07, 2018 - 12:19 PM Your return policy is no good. I wouldn't trust that you'd honor it.
I'm glad I had the chance to draw you out in this exchange so that other buyers can see what kind of business you run. I'll let that speak for itself.
The iPhone Guy Seller - Jan 07, 2018 - 12:34 PM United States (US) Don't be mad I won't sell to you. ------------------------------- Buyer beware.
The Iphone Guy - Screen Repair Review from Bend, Oregon
Thanks for your comment. I do remember this iPhone coming into our store for repair.
You came in very upset at us that your screen was kinda dark. Nothing we did, but we offered to fully fix it for you under our generous warranty. You brought your device in and we fixed your screen from coming up. While you were in the store and I was testing the device, I noticed it was taking a while to turn on after a simple reboot.
I asked you if you have noticed any issues with your front camera or if the device maybe took a while to turn on? You told me that you never use the camera and never turned the device off. I then unplugged your front camera and the device was able to turn on. I then brought the device to you and brought the camera issue to your attention explaining that you where having some camera issues.
I showed you a way that you could use the rear camera instead of the front camera to save you some money on not having to replace the front camera because you said you didn't want to spend any more money on the device. I said you'll be fine as long as you don't reboot your device. You then left the store with a FULLY working device and to my understanding, the knowledge of your faulty camera as it had been thoroughly explained. Later, you called back saying you went to AT&T instead of coming back to us and they said your device was broken and water damaged, you yelled at our receptionist and then hung up not allowing her to say a single word over the phone to you.
I was then thinking you where just going to be coming back that day to allow us to check over your device but we did not see you. The following day, you and another person came in demanding that we fix the issue for free and bullying us saying we broke your phone when we in fact did not. There's no way what we did repairing your device caused it to fry as you say. The iPhone's just don't fry due to faulty camera.
Using a phone with a faulty camera can cause the device to not boot up properly as you showed me when you came in. I explained again to you that you can get the device to boot up with the camera unplugged and then plugged it back in once the device is on. Not the best thing but saves you money as you didn't want to spend more.
You then demanded we fix for free and then said "you know, Bend is a small town and you should do right, we have a business here too and know people" At that point, I respectfully declined to assist you further as you were determined to not heed our advice. Thanks again for your feedback and have yourself a great and wonderful day!
IPhone repair (The iPhone Guy - Bend, OR)
BEWARE! UNAUTHORIZED REPAIR SHOP THAT DOESN'T STAND BY ADVERTISED WARRANTY.
They replaced a cracked screen on my new iPhone 5 and a few months later the glass started to lift, so I took it in for a follow-up repair. Left phone with them FULLY functional (with exception of lifting glass) for 25 min, came back and phone TOTALLY nonfunctional (screen black)! Owner blamed it on a faulty "front" camera?? What actually happened was when he was "fixing his previous repair (lifting screen) he fried the wire that is connected to camera which totally fried phone.
It's all over the internet - very common when UNAUTHORIZED repair shop makes repairs because they lack the approved tools to perform repairs safely. Owner totally UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE!
He didn't take responsibilty for his damage to the camera and wanted to charge me to repair it! STAY AWAY....
