I didn't have any help at that place or education

I have been trying to study online for the last few years and have always dreamed of having the opportunity to study directing. I got commercial on YouTube with Ela Thier.

I paid $3,400$ for one year of study at The Independence Film School and all I got was 6 grades with instructor Memo and bunch of Ela's vlog videos. Special thanks to Memo. If it wasn't for Memo, I would have called the Business Bureau. He just saved this school.

This is not a scam. They really have a platform and for a small percentage of people maybe it could work. In my opinion, Memo is the only human teacher who is able to teach and work for students. I was extremely dissatisfied with Ela 's training and methodology .

Ela T. promised to air 6 individual classes for each student and two camera classes with each student(8 personal classes). The promise was 100% unfulfilled. When it came to my complaint via email and I was refused to have any personal training, Memo offered me his help.

They don't have a phone or an office to come and deal with them personally. They're all hiding. English is not my first language and I was promised an individual approach to each client. Nothing was done.

I'm not interested in talking to their students. It's hard for me to open up to strangers, especially since I speak with a big accent. I once wrote something during classes with Ela and she made a remark to me and it was enough for me to understand that I was thrown for money again. I didn't turn on the camera.

I don't have a direct rage at this company, but it's clear to a fool that they monetized courses recorded on camera for a lot of money and assembled a football stadium from students, and students were abandoned while they were enjoying life and counting profits. Another collection of money. Ela Thier considers herself a super person and therefore communicates only with very rich students. I asked to see my photos and help me start the project.

In general, the idea was that they would help me make my personal film. Any quality, but they promised that they push my and bring me to my goals and at the end I will leave this school with my own movie. I wanted to shoot some relaxing video and discuss it with nice people. Couple of times I was openly told in class that no one was interested in my work for the film.

I should work all by myself, if I want, I can TRY TO share my screen in a life session for the public to see WHAT WOULD HAPPEN and MAYBE THEY WILL PAY ATTENTION TO MY WORK FOR COUPLE MINUTES and that's it. My English was not perfect, the students would eat me up. They all are using and monetizing kind shy people. I paid $3,400 and got nothing but the courses recorded on video.

She probably earned at least $10,000,000 in recorded lessons for the last year, God is her judge. Let her continue making her films.

I've never heard of her before. I wish her good luck.

Cons:
  • No attention
  • No education
  • No respect

Preferred solution: I would like others don't trust and pay money to people online, especially who just want anything else but use them for their money and don't give nothing back.

User's recommendation: Don't trust online courses without phone number and discuss personally what they could give you as a result.

This was a waste of my time and money. Dont fall for this fraud. You WONT learn how to get an agent. You WONT learn how to market your screenplay. You WONT find anyone successful in the “class” to network with. All you WILL do is meet a bunch of talentless losers who whine about their failures and blame their failures on “capitalism” or the “patriarchy”

The *** who leads this “class” is pretty smug for someone who has never had a real movie played in a real American theater. My boyfriends Youtube videos have had more viewers than this chicks socalled “films.”

All you really “learn” in this “class” is how to post begging screeds to crowdfunding websites (gofundme, kickstarter, ect) and mooch off of family and friends for money to make your “movie”

If you know how to read, just buy the Writers Market book for Screenplays. It’s a *** of a lot cheaper than the bullsh-t “advice” you get from IndieFilmSchool (theindependentfilmschool.com)
