- - Led toddler room with no assistant or training.
- - Asked for a pay raise; initial offer was low and received hostility.
- - Education suffered due to workload.
Business Name: The Goddard School
Location: Fayetteville, Arkansas
I was hired in February 2025 as a support staff member while attending school part-time. In May 2025, I was moved into the assistant teacher position for the toddler room.
Shortly after, the lead teacher left unexpectedly, and I was asked to take on the lead responsibilities temporarily while administration searched for a replacement.
In August 2025, the director, Ashley, asked if I would officially become the lead teacher since I had already been performing those duties for approximately two months. I accepted the role. However, I was never provided with an assistant teacher and received little to no formal training for the responsibilities expected of a lead teacher. I was required to manage the classroom and administrative responsibilities alone while learning the position as I went.
In August 2025, I requested a meeting with the owner, Ellen, to discuss a pay raise, as I was still being paid $14.00 per hour, the same wage I received when hired as support staff despite now performing lead teacher duties.
My email requests were ignored or postponed multiple times. When the meeting finally occurred, in December, the owner was initially unwilling to increase my pay beyond $15.00 and eventually agreed to raise my wage to $15.50.
During a later meeting with the owner and director on March 2, 2026, the owner referenced that previous meeting in a way that felt inappropriate and dismissive. She stated, Didnt you come to me for financial problems a few months ago? implying that my request for a raise was due to personal financial issues.
I clarified that this was not the case and that I had requested the raise because I had taken on a new role with significantly more responsibility. My explanation was dismissed, and the tone of the conversation became increasingly hostile.
In January 2026, after realizing how significantly my academic performance had suffered due to the workload and lack of classroom support, I requested a meeting with the director to step down from the lead position and return to a support staff role so I could focus on my education. During this discussion, I explained that the responsibilities were overwhelming without assistance and that I needed to prioritize school.
The director stated that stepping down would put the school in a hard spot and repeatedly emphasized how difficult my decision would make things for the administration and other staff. I informed her that I would continue serving as lead teacher until February 13 to give the school time to find a replacement.
Despite this notice, the school did not transition me out of the role.
Later, I was told that the person chosen to replace me had gone on maternity leave and would not return until April or May, meaning I would continue to carry the same responsibilities. Because of this delay, I missed the registration deadline for several college courses that required afternoon availability. When I raised this concern with administration, I was told it was too late to sign up for those classes anyway, and my schedule would still be expected to remain 26 PM regardless of my personal schedule.
Due to the lack of flexibility and the impact on my education, I submitted my two-week resignation notice by email. The email was sent and delivered, but administration later claimed it was never received and accused me of not submitting it.
When I showed proof of the sent email with timestamps, the owner suggested I may have forgotten to send it.
During the meeting on March 2, 2026, I was also told that two weeks notice was unacceptable and that the school requires a 30-day notice in order to leave on good terms. I was told that if I did not provide 30 days, I would not receive a positive reference and would be placed on a bad list of employees. I was also told I would never be eligible to work at a Goddard School again.
The meeting lasted approximately 30 minutes and felt extremely hostile. My concerns regarding my education and the workload I had carried for months without assistance were dismissed.
The owner also stated that I would likely not even make it to the end of my two-week notice period and told me to leave the office.
I worked for this school for over a year and consistently adapted to multiple staffing changes while handling lead responsibilities without proper support or training.
I believe the treatment I experienced during my resignation and the lack of respect for my educational commitments created a toxic and unprofessional work environment.
Desired Resolution:
I would like this complaint documented and reviewed. Employees should not be threatened with retaliation, negative references, or blacklists for providing standard resignation notice or prioritizing their education.

- - July 2019 at Goddard School Pearland, TumbleBus incident humiliated their 5-year-old; parents weren't informed, and teacher seems to show favoritism.
In July 2019, our son experienced a humiliating experience for a little 5 yr old. At the Goddard School in Pearland, Texas, there was a TumbleBus coming to the school.
His teacher, I feel purposely did not inform his father nor I that this activity was coming. He was the only child that did not attend and he was devastated. They could have told me that morning or told my husband the day before when he picked him up.
They did not! The teacher in the 5 year old class is not a nice person and seems to show favoritism between the children.

Child Abuse at the Goddard school , Fanwood NJ. We were blessed with a baby girl already turned one-year old and decided to enroll her at the Goddard school, Fanwwod, NJ.
After we visited the school and met with school director Tricia Ferrara the director of the school . After she sweet talked to us and paid the school $1500 hundred dollars a year in advance supposedly to secure our daughter a spot in school when she will turn a year old in July 2nd 2017. The first week of daycare we did know what to expect from the school as we started to meet the staff but shortly thereafter we started to experience the big nightmares. On 7/13/2017 When i picked up our daughter from the Goddard school there was *** all over her back and belly coming up from her diaper.
Its obvious, it has been there for sometimes since lot of the *** is already dried and baked on our daughters back and belly. There was only one older teacher supervising many crying babies and she seemed tired leaning on a diaper table with sleepy eyes and did not care about anything . I also realized that our daughter seemed devastated with tremors when she saw Mrs. Carol obviously something was going on there led her to be so afraid of Mrs.
Carol but I was not sure until couple of days later, while dropping a water bottle at the school I observed the very same Mr.Carole handling Claire not in a very gentle manner when they were outside in the play yard, she literally dragged her to be cornered against the wall with stern face and vengeance and aggravation. I was about to get out my car and confront her but my wife over the phone asked me not to fearing that the school may kick us out. In other instance, I had observed Mrs. Carole changing our daughter diaper and wiping her butt and front part with aggressiveness and vengeance while our daughter screaming and crying from the top of her lungs without any consideration to our daughters irritated bottom.
I asked Mr. Carole not to change our daughters diaper anymore and to interact with her minimally on need to bases. Most time when I was visiting the school during lunch or picking up our child she was always crying from the top of her lungs with fear but the staff at Goddard school keep telling us its parent child separation anxiety but later find out its not the case but our daughter was mentally and physically tortured. After few complaints and emails written the school director Tricia Ferraro the staff demeanor became hostile but we pretended to look the other way did not care and minimize any unnecessary conversations with any of the school staffs and it's Director.
Just picking or dropping the baby at the school. Not till 2 days later while changing our daughters diaper we observed two cuts on her butt cheeks about 2 inches in length each that the staff and school director denied doing. On 7/20/2017 I went to school to pick up our daughter from the day care on about 5 PM, I observed from the outside hall way glass before entering the baby area that she was uncomfortable, in pain and crying from the top of her lungs, again there was only Mr. Carole supervising, leaning on the change table with dazed and dont seem concerned .
Even after I entered the room and picked our daughter in my arm, It was obvious to me that she was uncomfortable, crying and in pain and I was not sure why at the beginning. Until I realized that her butt is hurting her and the staff have been wiping her off with rough kitchen wipes because they run out of supply, not only that but she was all covered with *** again for hours. After talking to the school director over the latest incident she did not seem to care much and asked me to confront the staff by myself because she was unable to.
All this time we have been trying to compromise with the school to make things better for our daughter but at the end we realized that we have been harassed and tormented. We have decided to file a Harassment and child abuse charges against the Goddard school Fanwood, NJ and the case currently under investigation.

What a lie! I am an actual witness and I cannot believe he slandered that teacher's name when I have witnessed that exact diaper change he speaks of and she most definitely was not aggressive in the least bit!!
That child's diaper rash was extremely clear that it was from neglect of the parents... it's really sad when people have children to parade them around like trophies without an actual ounce of trying themselves..
smh. That school is amazing!!
