There is no help, no phone, complete secret about everything, but I believe they charged me already. For reason unknown to me credit card numbers are available for every store nowdays.

Can access on my TV, but can't play films

AI Highlights
  • - Joined a special rate subscription/renewal.
  • - TV login via email and password works, but films won’t play.
  • - Clicking a film opens Free trial and Subscribe.

Criterion has done NOTHING--no response and no action--to give me access to their films under their recent special. To be clear, I can sign in to Criterion with my email and password on my TV and I phone, but get no access to film unless I sign up for full charges.

Thus, Criterion's "special" is a joke, and unfortunately so is Criterion customer service. I am giving them through tomorrow to fix the issue. If they don't, I am cancelling their subscription.

If they impose any charges, I will dispute strongly on my credit card. This is all unfortunate--Criterion has excellent films---if I could only watch them!

I just signed up for a special rate subscription/renewal. I can sign in on my TV with my email and password, but I cannot play any films.

When I click on the film, it takes me to 'Free trial' and 'Subscribe.' What should I do?

Please advise ASAP. rpaul71193@***.com
Cons:
  • Poor customer service

User's recommendation: action from Criterion on simple issue of films not playing after log in.

Very few real classic films

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Can't contact Criterion; complaints denied.
  • - Free month promised, billed.
  • - No classic French/Chinese/Japanese films with subs; no French New Wave or horror.

Can't contact Criterion, they refuse complaints. Mine -- I signed up for a free month -- I'm already getting billed, no free month!

No classic French, Chinese, Japanese (older or new) -- movies with subs. No French New Wave - no horror classics.

Chinese, Japanese - only American junk!! Criterion has nothing good - I saw one good new Chinese film - only.

User's recommendation: take the free first month, then dump Criterion.

This is the most ridiculous website I have ever tried to order from.

AI Highlights
  • - Cloud access is blocked; support is unavailable.
  • - Login fails after many attempts.
  • - I want to buy a movie but access is difficult.

That cloud thing is blocked, no customer service. I put in my email, password and that gotcha thing more times than I can remember, and I still can't get in.

All I want to do is buy a silly movie.

I'm wondering why you have to go through so much to get in. Is this a legitimate website?

User's recommendation: Buy from somebody else.

Was not able to get refund

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Annual renewal occurred automatically with no prior notice.
  • - I requested a full refund or one month because I cannot afford it and it was denied.

My annual subscription to the Criterion Channel was automatically renewed with no prior notification. I did not realize I needed to cancel it.

I immediately emailed the company from my account explaining that I could no longer afford the subscription and wanted a refund, either for the full amount ($105) or that amount minus the cost of a month's service. I got an email back stating that I could not get a refund but he canceled the automatic renewal. I wrote again asking to just pay for one month instead of the year. I got a note from Vemo saying they could not find a record of any transaction (because I did not use Vemo to pay for the subscription) but not from Criterion Channel.

I am on a set income and do not use or want this service. But they will not refund my money.

User's recommendation: This automatically renews unless you cancel it. NO REFUNDS
