"the Coyote Wore Sideburns" Tucson.
My experience with this salon was bad from the very beginning. The receptionist was not very welcoming. She asked for some of my personal information (not sure what for) and told me to wait for the stylist.
With the help of a picture I explained to the stylist named Jessica the type of haircut I was going for. She said she understood what I wanted and began to work on my hair.
While Jessica was cutting my hair I was never facing the mirror so I couldn’t see what she was doing. When I saw the result I was shocked! The haircut she gave me was NOT EVEN CLOSE to what I asked for! It was the absolute opposite. She did whatever SHE thought was best and now my hair is too short, looks cheap and it looks like I have a very small amount of hair, this is very upsetting because I specifically said I did NOT wanted to lose volume!
I can’t understand why she gave me this haircut. I have had that haircut done several times before and no one has ever made me feel unhappy with the result.
Coyote Ugly in Tucson - Beware
I went to this salon because of a previous positive experience with Carmen (Carmen is a “he”). I scheduled with Paula and brought a photo for her to go by, but she insisted, “you don’t realize how short that is,” and said she had an idea of what would look better! She wasted time looking through a magazine for her own photo, then gave up and tried to draw it. She said the drawing wasn’t clear, so I told her I was willing to try her idea, and if it wasn’t ok, then could she go by the photo I brought.
When her idea didn’t work for me, she became frustrated and said I “confused” her. I told her “There’s no need to be upset.” (I kept my composure and was civil throughout the encounter.) She continued acting upset. I asked, “Can I get a second opinion?”
The second stylist, Signe (co-owner with Carmen), was abrupt and didn’t want to discuss what Paula did, so I showed her the photo I brought. After a few attempts, she became frustrated also. Instead of remaining professional, she took the hair dryer and basically assaulted me with it – she aimed it at my face, with no warning, on high, and waved it angrily around my head. There’s no way she does that to clients normally. (I put up with it just to avoid making the situation worse.) After that, it’s no wonder she then said I didn’t have to pay.
(My photo showed a modern cut, but the style they made looked like an outdated Paula Young wig.) I called Carmen the next day, but he hinted that, since there were two stylists against me, it must have been me who was mistaken. He said Signe’s name is “Tina,” and that he could only apologize for them. He then cut me off, saying he had another call.
Bottom line: Instead of just saying they couldn’t match the photo, they took it out on me, including with the blowdryer. Nothing justified that assault.
Do not visit Coyote Wore Sideburns Salon in Tucson, AZ
I visited a salon by the name of Coyote Wore Sideburns for the first time. When I arrived the receptionist wanted me to complete a registration form with all my personal information.
When I declined (victim of identity theft and concerned with my personal information being spread around) she began very angry and kept giving me dirty looks while I was waiting for the stylist and when I went to pay she refused to give me my change and stated my change ($2.00) was an automatic tip for the stylist. I explained I wanted to hand the stylist a tip myself, which would have been more than the $2.00 in change but the receptionist refused to let me go back to where the stylist was to provide her with additional funds. I guess it does not matter anyway since the stylist did not provide me with a very good haircut. I have very thick hair and when I went in I explained all I need ed was a trim.
My current haircut was very easy to follow for a trim and I did not think it would matter where I went. I was wrong. The stylist said she understood what I wanted but would not have me face the mirror when she was cutting my hair until the end at which time I see she layered my hair and cut my bangs to the middle of my forehead. Needless to say, I went home and gave it a couple of days to see if there was anything I could do to save the haircut and found that was not the case.
I called the salon to find out if the stylist could call me so we could talk about the haircut and if there was anyway she could fix it and the stylist never called me back to discuss. I have never had a salon be so unprofessional.
I will not be returning nor will I recommend this salon to others.

This review is very believable. I also was treated unfairly by two stylists there, simply because they could not match the photo I brought with me.
The first stylist insisted that I did not want what I was asking for, that it was too short! She then proceeded to waste my time by looking in a magazine to show me what SHE had in mind.
The visit ended with a 2nd stylist, Tina, assaulting me with a blowdryer, then telling me that I didn't have to pay for the visit. Guess I should add a review here myself.
I have been a client at Coyote Wore Sideburns for 7 years. No one ever asked me to fill out a registration form (I did give them my phone number so they could phone me to remind me of appointments).
I have great color and cut and when I watch other clients with other stylists I'm impressed with their hair also. I always know I can go back if I need a "fix" or a bang trim. Totally professional in a laid back way. This review sounds totally unlike them that I wonder if they went to another salon on 4th (there are several) and got confused.
They are now at 2855 E Grant in Tucson -- away from the challenging parking down on 4th (soon to be metered). They have lots of room for parking and they have a side street with parking also.
I honestly wish I could click the *** button over and over on this particular review. :( Go figure her name is anonymous.
coyote wore sideburns in Tucson is still the same wonderful salon I have been a cusotomer of for 20 plus years. Thanks to Signe and her staff! Ana Alonso :)
I recently took my son to get his haircut.
and sure enough i was asked to fill out a form that asked for all my information. We had a stylist cit my hair and it was the worst cut he has ever had.
I have to say I've been a client of The Coyote Wore Sideburns for over 7 years and rotated through many stylists I absolutely love the ambiance, My haircuts were always Marvelous, I occasionally have gotten color and It turned out great also, I'm not sure why anyone would not recommend this salon but I say you should try it for yourself before taking above statement to seriously.
