I sent them many emails detailing where they had reneged on their promise of delivering a specific number of reviews.I received one review but not the others.Fortunately, I had used PayPal and they reimbursed me.My advice - Don't use them.

Original review Jun 10, 2026

I paid twice for reviews for my books and was promised a number of reviews. At present, I have seen only one, despite the fact that the first payment was in February. Please correct this omission before I am forced to take action.

AI Highlights
  • - Paid $217.45 via PayPal on May 15, 2024 for five Amazon reviews.
  • - Delays and yearlong silence; PayPal window expired; call Book Commentary unscrupulous.

All communication was via email and although the contact person replied to my queries, she was always evasive, asking for "further information" about the transaction, engaging in delaying tactics despite it being a year since she got the money through PayPal. Avoid The Book Commentary completely.

Today I got a solicitation email from The Book Commentary, the same type email I got over a year ago seeking business from authors. Apparently, I'm still on their mailing list but I will direct such communication to the Spam Folder.

Original review May 27, 2025
On May 15, 2024, I submitted $217.45 via PayPal to The Book Commentary for five Amazon verified book reviews of the book I'd written. Hearing nothing from the Book Commentary, I sent an email on July 12th and received a reply from Dee, "Your order is actually in progress." As an author and book reviewer myself, I know reading and doing a review can take up to three months.

I wanted to be fair and waited until December 4 and sent an email saying I would file complaints with the BBB and online Consumer Review sites. I got an email from Dee, "I understand the delays on our end can be very frustrating.

Can you give us through the week to sort this out?" I replied, "I will wait a week before I take action." I waited till now (over a year since I paid for the service), more than enough time for any reputable company to, at least, respond.
I lost the $217.45 because my complaint fell outside of the 180 day window for PayPal disputes. Now I am reporting The Book Commentary as an unscrupulous company.
