Medication for my dog

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I made an appointment for my dog for allergies to renew his meds which had been prescribed by another vet, I made sure to let them know that I did not want to pay for any meds only the exam, when my husband got there they gave him the meds and charged $50 per 15 pills, I am able to get the same med for half the price. I called the receptionist and she totally could care less, no skin off her back!

I am totally unhappy about their attitude and more so the fact that they are pricing their meds twice as much of what they are worth without any regards for their patients. Bottom line she told me, she could print my dog's records to go somewhere else, she did not like the fact that I wanted to send a letter to the vet doctor, she said it was not fair for the doctor to be bothered with this problem since they have nothing to do with the pricing but on the other hand, it is very fair for the office to price their meds wioth a totally unfair profit.

Overpriced and staff who don't know what they are doing!!! Scam

Gave mean estimate for neutering a 1 year old cat of $426.64-$693.17 depending on whether we agreed to have a bunch of un-needed tests done. It was like a cult of people who had no idea what they were doing!!!

Appointment was at 1130 and we were there until 230. Big time scam to do a bunch of tests! Sad because it used to be such a great veterinary clinic before being sold to Dr Houston!!!

Look out because they own a clinic in Damascus too called The Village Vet!!! I'll be taking my pets to Sandy Animal Clinic where I know they will be cared for and I won't be scammed into a high priced cult!

Not to be trusted!

Give me a break! It is totally obvious the positive review was written by Barlow Trail Vet Clinic themselves.

I had an emergency with my dog when I was traveling in Oregon and this is the first place I came to. What a mistake! The first thing did was try to talk me into a ton of super expensive tests. I felt like I was being taken advantage of because I was from out of town.

The whole experience turned me off so much that I left without treatment and went to the next closest clinic, who were awesome, by the way, and dealt with the issue quickly and inexpensively without a thousand dollars worth of tests. Don't take your beloved pet to barlow vet clinic!

I agree. I a most lost my dog from hemorrhage after being spayed.

I didn't know the vet had just graduated. Another time I was quoted almost grand for teeth cleaning.

Not the same since Dr Christian sold the place and retired. Its all about the money, Find another vet.

Great Service! Great Doctors!

The Barlow Trail Vet Clinic - Great Service! Great Doctors!

All I can say is that Barlow Trail Vet Clinic is a great place for your pets!! Dr.

Houston and Dr. Brenner have treated both of our pets with much compassion and made us feel like we were the most important people in the building!! Unfortunately previous negative reviews have made this place seem "awful" on-line but new ownership has sure made a difference!! They answer our endless list of questions and also take the time to explain the reasons for doing blood work and tests.

How many doctors do you know that get on the floor with your dog?! I trust them completely!

Double billing, now triple billing, now consumer agency involvement, Dept of Justice investigation for fraud. I also lost my dog here, they never tell the truth!

This place is a death trap for your pet. Do not take your pet to Barlow Vet Clinic!!!

Many of the newer positive reviews of the Barlow Trail Vet Clinic, Sandy, OR appear to be written in the same style and context. Wonder if the same person is writing most of them in hopes of improving the clinic's poor reputation.

Your site has gone to the out house.

Advertising the entities who receive complaints = nuts to you. You have had life threatening or actually death of pets reported on your site and now you appear to be supporting The Barlow Trail Vet Clinic.

Nuts to you. It was, and is, a waste of my time to bother reporting the same devastating veterinarian's care to Pissed of Consumer.

As I stated in the past to you, extremely expensive tests and X-rays were done which showed my pet's complete bowel obstruction.

Christensen, DVM ordered more tests rather than do the necessary emergency surgery. Christenson, DVM (?) also charged to euthanize my pet which was in extreme pain thanks to lack of appropriate and adequate veterinary treatment.

I filed an official complaint with the Oregon Vet. Med.

Exam. Board which is financed by veterinarian licensing fees and controlled by vet appointees and patronage. Although, there have been multiple complaints regarding mistreatment, abuse, negligence, incompetence and animal death filed with the OVMEB, no official action has ever been taken against D. Christenson, DVM.

There is an obvious conflict of interest between the OVMEB and the vets who financially support the semi-autonomous state agency and the Public Interest. I also contacted the state legislators responsible for overseeing the agency, the AVA, etc. Totally stonewalled by every one of them.

After you care for the remains of your beloved pet, I suggest you shoot yourself in the foot. There would be less pain (emotional and financial) and more satisfaction if you do so.

You will receive no justice or satisfaction from the incompetent vet or the Oregon Vet. Med.

Exam Board. I know of no individual who has had success in bringing an incompetent or grossly negligent vet to account in Oregon.

I am so sorry about your pet. There are attorneys who take vet negligence cases.Check the net for laws in your state re: the responsibilities of vets.

Have you filed a formal complaint with the state licensing agency? I believe you go through the vet board of licenses.

Pursue it unless it's easier on your heart to just try to let the nightmare fade. Lots of luck to you.

Gave much money and received a dead pet

I strongly suggest that you read the negative reviews of this clinic which are scattered over the internet. Then decide what value you place on your pet's life and potential death.

My pet is dead due to an encounter with the primary vet. at The Barlow Trail Vet Clinic. . I had my pet's medical record reviewed by two independent veterinarians.

Their conclusion was that the death was caused by the gross negligence of the attending vet.

The many internet reviews illustrate the the on going illnesses and deaths of pets treated by the Barlow Trail Vet Clinic. Beware!

Dangerous uncensored veterinarians in Oregon

A recent encounter with the Barlow Trail Veterinarian Clinic, David Christenson, left my animal dead because of what I believe to be incompetence and gross negligence on the part of the Vet. I presented the evidence to the OVMEB (Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board) which after two review hearings absolved Christenson of any liability in the animal's death.

The OVMEB also refused to accept further documented evidence in the case.

Three individual veterinarians had review the case and their opinion was that the dog was killed through gross negligence.

My recommendation is to stay away from Christenson, DVM and the Oregon Veterinary Examining Board, because you will loose more than your animal. You cannot win in the State of Oregon.

I am going to attempt to contact you using the telephone directories in this area. I spent eight months having the OVMEB play games on my head.

I lost of course, because they have many unknown rules. There is a trick of even filing the complaint too. I know some of their tricks. I doubt anyone wins against a vet.

One reason is that the vets subsidize the OVMEB - their licensing fees - bankroll what is a semi autonomous agency of the state.

RN also.

I intend to file a complaint with OVMEB. My fear is that they will alter the medical records.

I know a little about people medicine. I should have been more careful about picking a vet. Trouble is the lady vet that I always saw was not the one doing the surgery.

I had never met "him". Susan RN

The 'complete' records I received from the Barlow Trail Vet Clinic were incomplete and appeared to be altered. These were the records that the OVMEB used for their decision exonerating Christenson..

The OVMEB also stated that they need a number of complaints to find against the veterinarian, if my memory serves me. I suggest filing a complaint with the OVMEB. It will not resolve your loss, but enough complaints may force some action against Christenson by the OVMEB. If enough of us file complaints, we may be able to stop the Barlow Trail Vet Clinic carnage.

In the meantime, I am forwarding this to the OVMEB to remind them that we, the consumers, are watching.

When you are ready for another puppy - the love of your life, try the Damascus Vet Clinic in Damascus, Oregon. It is quite a distance to drive, but my young dog is well cared for and not in danger.

I took my healthy, beautiful golden retriever puppy to Barlow Trail Vet Clinic, to have spayed. She is now dead.

I have received conflicting reports of what happened.

I am waiting on medical records to have rewiewed by another vet. Do not take your animal to these people.
