AI Highlights
  • Merr.com was excellent before the TDS sale, with fantastic employees.
  • After the sale, there is no local billing support and a double charge.

Prior to selling to TDS Merr.com was an excellent cable net franchise. The Merr.com employees were fantastic to work with and if there was ever a problem a simple phone call would have it fixed in a few minutes.

Since Merr.com sold to TDS things have changed.

You no longer get to talk to someone local about your billing problems. When my checking account was double charged for one month on the same day it has been 6 days without a resolution. I believe that the call center was located outside the USA.

I talked with a representative when I paid my bill on line and I asked if there would be any problem with my account being charged twice due to a misunderstanding with the process that was used. He said that it wouldn't.

I don't have an issue with the cable service as of yet.

Like all large companies you always see the best of them at the beginning. The $44.99 monthly cable charge turns into $56 with all the other fees included.

TDS Cut Me Off For Using Data

AI Highlights
  • Streaming on laptop with no data cap after the 2-year deal.
  • Jan 19 bill for $175 backdated; service cut Feb 2.

I half moved to TX then decided not to. With my tv's in storage down there, I used my laptop as a tv- watched Netflix, ABC, NBC, etc.

With no data cap placed on my account after my 2 yr contract deal was up, they had to do something fast when I started using tons of data nonstop. Why cant I? No one said I couldn't. I didnt know I was doing anything wrong.

My regular monthly bill that came said pay by Jan.26th. I always pay after the 3rd. I paid them $75 of $175 on Feb1st. Feb 2nd I have no service.

I take college classes online. I go get my mail & there's a notice from TDS dated JAN 19th to pay $175 in full NOW.. It was Jan 31st! How come a letter dated the 19th took so long?

I asked them that- they said I should ask the PO why! There are no dates or stamps for 1st class pre-sort mail...boy, they sure used that to their advantage! Thought I had until the 26th? They disconnected me on Feb 2nd.

If they wanted to cut me off so *** bad, like the letter they backdated for Jan 19th, why didn't they cut me off on the 20th? Or the 23rd, 25th, 28th even? They get my $75 then cut me off on Feb 2nd? Almost 2 FULL WEEKS after this mystery bill dated Jan 19th I was cut off.

It was because they never put a cap on my data usage after my 2 yr deal was up! So they lied and backdated a bill-it's unprofessional, sneaky, unethical & morally wrong. Also, I was actually paying a month ahead-so my Jan. bill was already paid in full.

After they credited me back for the service I paid for but didnt use, I owe $46. Disconnected over $46?? NO! Disconnected for THEIR mistake by not putting a data cap on my account, assuming I'd always use the same amount of data I used for the past 3 years.

**Do not use TDS! They ARE CROOKS AND DISHONEST**.
