AI Highlights
  • - Subscription stopped over two weeks ago and delivery has not restarted.
  • - Online account shows an issue.
  • - Tried an email offer for $15/month.

My newspaper subscription was abruptly stopped over two weeks ago. I have made many attempts to have my paper delivery restarted, but to no avail.

I won't go into the many times I have called, emailed, and chatted, besides trying to take advantage of an email offer which allowed me to subscribe for $15.00 per month. I did not call and cancel my paper as I have been told. The many times I have called were to complain about my missing paper, which occurred on a regular basis. What does it take to order a subscription to TC Palm?

I can't go online to complain any longer as the site says there is a problem with my account. If I call the help line (ha ha), I am told I already have a subscription, but if this were true, where is my paper? I have been given so many conflicting and confusing answers that I have lost count of them. Should I perhaps contact Gannett in New York to assist me?

Isn't there anybody here locally that can help, instead of being sent out of the country? This is most frustrating that TC Palm could care less about their customers.

Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered

Although not your fault if the paper is missing frequently, it sounds like they have determined your account has too many issues. As a result they canceled service.

Quoted $33 plus taxes in a letter from the VP of Consumer relations and was charged $46.I now have to go to a third party mediation to receive what was quoted.

AI Highlights
  • - A written price quote differed from the auto-deducted charge.
  • - Case referred to a third party to settle pricing; distrust of T C Palm on billing and appeals.

The "reason" really is the detail behind the complaint. Get written letter quoting one price and was auto deducted another amount from my checking.

Have

referred this case to a third party to help settle pricing .

Unfortunately T C Palm

can not be trusted on billings and cannot be trusted when appealing the

irregularities. Unless you are "desperate" for local news stay away from

T C Palm.

User's recommendation: STAY AWAY DON'T GET INVOLVED.

Unauthorized charges

AI Highlights
  • - Longtime subscriber; bill should be $34.74 + tax.
  • - Over 13 months, charged $45.52; last $51.78.
  • - Auto-billed; refunds denied; cancelled.

I have been a subscriber to this newspaper for almost three decades. My online account states that my bill should be $34.74 + tax per month ($36.99).

Over the past 13 months they have charged me an average of $45.52 per month with last month being $51.78. Because this is automatically billed to my credit card I only caught it recently. They state these extra charges were authorized which they absolutely were not.

They refuse to issue any refund. I have cancelled my subscription.

Loss:
$110
Pros:
  • Consistently good delivery
Cons:
  • Unauthorized charges on my credit card

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: Either don't subscribe or at very least check your account if you are already a subscriber.
