I just watched a segment on the news saying that turbo-tax willingly hide the link for people making under $66,000 to file their taxes for free like the commercial advertised. Unless you type in turbotaxfree.com instead of turbotax.com you will not find a link to file for free. Turbotax charged me $59.00 up front to begin my taxes.
The kicker is when I got finished it asked me if I wanted to file my state taxes online with my federal taxes.
Well yeah, if so , that will cost another $49.99. I find this deceitful and unlawful to not tell you this up front.
Drake Software - Accrual of state income taxes
by AntiqueBasenjiDog397 #1513996
Drake is able to handle the accrual of the Federal Income tax liability fairly well but is unable to assist with the accrual of the state income tax or how to handle the overpayment of the current state income tax that was paid during the current year. I have complained to Drake for the last several years and always been told that the programers are working on it. Other tax programs are able to work on this issue. Why not Drake? There are other short comings with Drake. I have had both very good support and at other times it has been worthless

I filed my 2018 taxes on 1/16/19 using TurboTax FreeFile. They were accepted and the state direct deposited $892 (2018 refund) into my checking account on 2/20/19. On 3/20/19, I received an email from TurboTax admitting a calculation error on their part (Oregon...

Called customer tech support for tax software. granted it was a couple days before deadline, but the issue is theirs for failure to inform. By the way, NEVER pay your taxes by debit/credit card because there is a hefty fee of 2.6%. H&R Block should have known that and...

Taxact - Huge error in filing
by SucculentWestHighlandTerrier364 #15098401.0
I have filed with Taxact for many yrs with no issues. We opted for a tax accountant for 2018 and she requested the 2017 return also.
She immediately noted a huge error. We now have to refile our 2017 with an additional $6500! Evidently, our mortgage interest was entered two times! There were no red flags with this when filling.
I completed the return satisfactorily.
I know Taxact is not responsible for errors, but I will never recommend them to anyone. We could have easily been audited had our accountant not caught this to get ahead of it.
Taxact - No Support
by HeadyGoat441 #15247622.6
I cannot get verification that my return was e-filed. The IRS does not show they received it.
The only support is on the TAXACT website which is very limited. It just shows they do not have any information on my account when the requested information is entered.
Only get a menu driven recording at the phone numbers listed that direct you right back to the website. I have a printed return and the amount due was paid so what happened to the EFile return?
