Takeaway Com

Ordered a meal from takeaway.com for a restaurant in Earl's Court which was featured on their site.

I ended up calling the restaurant directly who had no record of the booking and said they had been called through by takeaway.com and needed to check things. After this, I then found another website which offered the same service, Hungry House.

Who offered:

1/ They offered a free bottle of white wine (takeaway.com offered nothing)

2/ The same identical order was £68.60 (whilst their order was £71.60 - some £3 more)

3/ The prawn crackers were free (takeaway.com charged an extra £1.50)

Not pleased at all and feel partially ripped off as I had put my trust with takeaway.com. I expressed this in a direct communication with them and they absolved themselves of all responsibility.

Their response was, verbatim:

"Thank you for your email. We are very sorry that you feel that way. Unfortunately we can only list the most up to date information on our website provided to us by the restaurant. As you have brought this to our attention we will request a menu update from them to ensure we have the correct information listed. However, it may be that Hungry House is out of date and that is why the prices are slightly cheaper. If you speak with the restaurant directly they may be able to offer the free items or another form of compensation. Unfortunately we are only able to uphold what has been advertised on our site.

If this is a company you want to do business with, go ahead, but I certainly will be using others. By the way, the billing on my credit card (for a UK booking) was from a Dutch company "THUI S BEZORGD ENSCHEDE NL", so just beware....

When I told them if there was any other way for them to win me back as a loyal customer, they didn't respond. This is what they think of customer service.

Dont ever use Takeaway.com to order take away food (formerly known as Pizzaweb). Its a complete waste of time.

The restaurant listings are incorrect e.g. opening times, whether the restaurants deliver. Takeaway.com don't bother to check their listings. I have tried to order food using their site 3 times and have not once actually been able to place an order or had any food delivered.

The customer service call centre is not based in the UK and they are no help whatsoever.

Use Justeat.co.uk or hungryhouse.co.uk instead. Never had any problems with those
