Payless Car Rental - Worst booking and customer service ever

I have rented from this company over a dozen times, customer service always sucks but it is cheapest so was willing to do it again. SO. booked ahead, prepaid $305.00 billed and cleared my credit card, got to the counter, was assigned a SUV, filled out all the documents and then the guys says he can not rent to me. doesn't know why but is willing to re-do the reservation under my husbands name.... however it is now considerably higher cost because we are renting at the last minute with no advance reservation... and it is the day before thanksgiving so rentals are at a premium! but lucky for us he has an SUV just like we wanted available since the other reservation did not work out....OH, and did i mention, he can not refund or use any of the prepaid amount (that will have to be handled by the corp office but they are closed for the holiday)... so i'm sure you are getting how this worked.. now we are desperate! so close to $1000.00 later... with the same rental I pre-booked... a lot of frustration, irritation, truly pissed off... and then I get to look forward to dealing with the corp office to attempt to get the original billed cost refunded.. called corp they were as rude and difficult as the guy at the counter. THESE PEOPLE CAN TOTALLY RUIN A FAMILY TRIP AND NOT CARE. I can not imagine what would have happened if my husband hadn't been traveling with me this time and I had flown into the airport..I would have literally been stranded. NEVER AGAIN!

Payless Car Rental - Payless Rental Car

On the night that I was scheduled to pick up my multi-day car reservation Payless closed their counter a half hour early. The result of this early closure was that I was forced to spend the night in the Airport and it enabled them to cancel my reservation and keep my prepaid money with no recourse. I was at the counter first thing in the morning and was told by the counter staff and two different customer service people that my reservation was canceled, that they were confiscating my money and that if I wanted a car I would have to pay the walk up rate in addition to the prepaid money that I had lost. IMO a company that is willing to do this is capable of anything in terms of consumer fraud and abuse.
