Etihad Airways - No accommodation within 28 hours in airport

My parents had a flight from Tehran to Toronto with transfer from Abu Dhabi and Frankfurt. The first flight on 11 june 2014 from Tehran to Abu-zabi (EY344) was delayed. As a result of the airline delay, the second flight (EY007) is cancelled. They were told that they will be arranged a hotel and ETIHAD will help them with the one day visa pass. Now still they are in the airport, it has been 10-12 hours since they have landed in the Abuzabi and still sitting on seat! Now the next replacing flight would be tomorrow which means they have to stay more than 24h in airport. I am just wondering why there was no accommodation prepared for the passengers while it is the airline responsibility. Almost 28 hours in the airport without any facility and accommodation is not acceptable at all. This is in the condition that the replacing flight duration would be 14-15hours and this is after such long time being in airport!!

Spirit Airlines - Spirit cancelled and left us stranded

Spirit CANCELLED our flight and left us hanging! Our Thursday June 13, 2013 LAX-FLL red-eye was cancelled right at boarding time (airplane was stuck in another city due to weather - note that our *** and destination cities were fine - this is California in the summer!). They had an HOURS long line and gave us 2 choices: either take a refund (and book your own alternate ticket) OR they would get us to the destination... 4 days later on Monday night! Thankfully travel insurance covered the extra $2,200 it cost the 4 of us to re-book and to stay in a hotel, and we were lucky enough to get seats the next day. Spirit staff were rude, provided NO assistance in re-booking flights or finding hotels (all nearby hotels were booked). The REASON they CANCELLED is because they are a small carrier - they don't have extra aircraft to pick up the slack, and the would rather cancel a few legs and catch up on their flights than honor the tickets they sold. BEWARE!! NOT WORTH THE SMALL SAVINGS - and if you decide to fly Spirit, buy private trip insurance!
