Delta Airlines - Airport Transfers, Lost Bags and Prosthesis

First let me state that I am an above knee amputee as a result of wounds incurred in Vietnam. I just recently flew from Newark to Amsterdam. When I arrived I asked for a wheelchair. I was told they had to put me on the list. I waited for over 30-minutes in a wheelchair while many able-bodied individuals kept on hoping on wheelchairs for the long journey to the baggage area (approx 800 meters). I told them I couldn't wait anymore for approval and decided to walk. Once this was stated the attendant pulled the chair back as I attempted to get off, thus causing me to fall on the ground. Returning home I decided not to rely on a wheelchair even though I requested it. I also packed my prosthesis and chose to walk with my crutches. I left Basel, Switzerland to Amsterdam and back to Newark. In Basel I did wait for a wheelchair, but after waiting 45 minutes and with my flight leaving in 35 minutes, I had no choice but to walk approximately 600 meters. Once in Amsterdam things got better a chair was there for me, so I could finally relax. But lo and behold after arriving back in Newark, I found Air France (Delta partner) never checked my bag. Now I'm in NJ without my bag, but more importantly now I don't have a prosthesis.At first Delta in NJ didn't even want o take a claim , sin ce they had no record of my checked bag in Basel, but they did have a record of the same bag going to Europe. Hopefully I will get the bag with my prosthesis still inside. Otherwise, I will have to go through the process of being fitted for a new limb, which can take up to 60-days to get use to, and in the interim I will have to use my crutches. I can't even say how angry I am, and I will never fly Delta again.
