User's recommendation: I came in to lease furniture. I asked if the delivery fee was added into the cost of the furniture. Antonio advised me that I would have to pay his "delivery guy" 100 in cash at the time of delivery. I then opted out of getting the furniture today. Antonio then got really upset. His tone of voice changed and he started saying "I'm mad confused" continuously. He asked me to continue processing my lease contract and I told him no. He said that would lock me in to my purchase price. I reminded him that I had paid him 50 previously to be locked into a purchase price. He then told me that was not to lock me in. I asked for my money back and he said I could only get a store credit. I told him I didn't want the credit and I no longer wanted to do business with his company because his aggression made me uncomfortable and I was going to write a review. His demeanor switched ONCE AGAIN. He said he would credit me my 50 dollars back to my card as long as I didn't write the review because he didn't want a bad review on his store. I handed him my card and he processed my refund. Then he threw my card on the table and asked me to sign the receipt while shaking his head. He seemed nice before he assumed he wasn't going to get my business. I was still going to get the furniture just not TODAY. I didn't want a random "delivery guy" who only accepts cash to deliver my furniture. I planned to get the furniture this weekend and pay cash for it and have a family member deliver it for me. Thanks to Antonio I will never visit surplus freight or any American freight ever again. I would rather pay double at Hanes or Ashley than to do business in an establishment where as a customer I am made to feel obligated to purchase OR ELSE.
I feel for you Sweetness on the Surplus Freight Furniture problem. It seems here in Canada we are having similar problems, and although my past many years prior to my recent purchase was exceptional, this recent purchase was just the worst experience ever.
I don't know that I will ever purchase from them again. Just this past June, I was moving into a new place from another province and bought a new living room set (leather) and they told me they needed 2 weeks notice prior to delivery date of my new address, I gave them over 3 weeks and had them change the delivery address to my new address. The day I moved in, they were to be there with my stuff between 10 and noon, no one showed up by 2 p.m so I called. Needless to say they not only didn't have my furniture, (it never arrived to their warehouse, but they were trying to reach me at my old phone number and NOT at the new one I gave them.
So after speaking with the manager for quite sometime, expressing to him I now have no livingroom furniture for my new home and they expected me to wait a couple more weeks! He said he would supply me with a floor model, same style, different color until mine came in, at no extra delivery charge, so I agreed. When it arrived that night, it was a brand new set instead, so I figured it was their call, not mine. A week or so later, I call them to see if my set has arrived yet, and found out that the Manager I dealt with had been fired, and that he should not have given me a loaner of a NEW set, so this manager tore my head off, instead of showing any compassion to me as a customer that didn't get what they paid for or had on delivery in the first place.
So after all was said and done, he told me my set would arrive in about a week and he would call me then. When he called me back, finally, he told me, first off, that mine was never ordered in the first place then he told me he found 2 sets of mine in his warehouse!!! So after all was said and done, there were 2 sets, that could have been sent to me in the 1st place, so delivery was no on route to my house, with the right color and style. So, when my set finally arrived, the movers took the plastic off the loveseat, and all was well, but when they got to the sofa, WOW and huge rip in the bottom area that had been GLUED back together from the manufacture !!
I couldn't believe my eyes and neither could the delivery guys, knowing they would have to come back, yet a 3rd time. After speaking once again with the Manager, he advises me to be patient !! Yeah sure...6 weeks later, I had to call him to see what is going on with my set, after several calls first to other employees insisting they can help me, which they could NOT! Finally he gets back to me, only to tell me, he tried to contact me a week after my damaged sofa arrived to me, because he found another one in his Warehouse, but he couldn't reach me by phone...NO WONDER, again, he was calling my old number!
These guys can't get anything right, not the phone numbers, not addresses, not furniture, not inspections, not delivery dates, not a thing...Then he promises delivery on this coming Tuesday, tells me he will call me first thing to set up a delivery time...Well guess what, I had to call again, by 12:30 p.m. because surprise, NO PHONE call from him again...so he finally returns my call 2-1/2 hrs later, with yet another excuse he is doing inventory, funny because I was told you would call me back in 20 minutes after your conference call. So many lies they tell their customers ! Finally it is suppose to arrive later this afternoon and we'll see what shape this one is in???
In my past years, I had great service, great furniture that all stood up well...no complaints, but NOW, with all the change over's from Managers to Sales personelle, this place sucks! They are more concerned with their Sales Quotas, than they are with their customer service or satisfaction....So sad, because as a 16 year customer, this one ends this year! No more....the only thing I found that isn't worth anything in their store are their mattresses, otherwise, everything else is or was fantastic, but NOT anymore !
You just lost a long time customer Surplus Freight! Adios!!!
