Verified Reviewer |Very Unprofessional.
Surge has a broker named Danny (who refused to give last name) and A guy Named Charles who said he is the supervisor for the brokers (not Randy Evans). When calling to update about a load my driver is on and explain the rate con says drop was today and Foodlion says drop is in 6 days, they did not care, and when asked to stop cutting me off, so I can finish talking, said I was now threatening them, and went on to say how you people need to read the rate con.
I'm confused, what does "you people" mean and why do things need to be racial. The "supervisor" Charles said that they could careless if there are discrepancies and that is a problem with the receiver, and they will not discuss it further. He was yelling, cussing and very unprofessional. Then proceeded to hang the phone up as he stated he was no longer having this conversation, when I asked to speak to someone above him that was professional, and he said they are all gone, it's the Holidays, so no, I can not speak to anyone above him.
It's funny because they are allowed to treat trucking companies like a mess, but there is nothing in place to protect the drivers and transportation companies, yet nothing is in place to prevent brokers from spotty business tactics. I am sure the owners, president and vice presidents do not care about the lack of professionalism but, when an organization is created to rate brokers and they are listed as not to conduct business with them, their revenue will decrease, and they will be one of the first companies to go out of business!
User's recommendation: Do not book loads from them! Let them go out of business.
Unprofessional brokers
Lack of communication, poor updates, assign you to loads that you don't even sign. Broker was very unprofessional and used swear words every other time when booking the load.
User's recommendation: Save your time and energy somewhere else.
Surge held us on a load for a WEEK!!!!!!
We picked up a load on Friday that should have delivered on Saturday per the rate con.
Get to Walmart on Sat and they tell us the load doesn't deliver until Thursday. I called and as able to reschedule with Walmart for Sunday.
We go back to Walmart Sunday and find out that this supposed 1 pick 1 drop is actually a 4 stop load.
Brokers fell out of communication and just kept saying they are working on it. ANDREW. JOHNSON, TRISTAN EADES, GREGORIO LOAZIA, are the absolute worst, dumbest brokers.
Long story short I had to call and get the product taken off my truck by myself. Luckily the shipper new these guys were a bunch of idiots!!!
- Suck
User's recommendation: DONT SHIP FOR THESE GUYS!!!! RUN
Just registered
Just signed on all was really fast and person I talked to Nicole was great and very helpful.
- Promised local lanes

So Much Wrong Here
Alright, so I'm going to break this down into a list. I worked here for a brief period of time but was beyond appalled by the way this company is run. Before getting into details, I will mention that this company DOES offer decent pay for what people are doing in their positions.
1. Lack of procedures and appropriate workplace policies. Yes, your job typically comes with a manual but beyond that the manual itself isn't always helpful. There's a huge lack of structure which makes it uneasy to establish a proper workplace setting.
2. Serious violation of confidentiality. This was the most disgusting part for me. A workplace should ALWAYS be professional and the employer/HR should never, under ANY circumstances, be releasing information to the rest of the company or fellow employees on certain things such as why an employee has been terminated.
True story. We were all called in for a meeting and the owner proceeded to show us recorded videos of the employee who was let go and went into great detail as to why they were let go. Why are we being told this? It is absolutely INAPPROPRIATE for the entire company to know someone's business like that. For shame.
3. Favoritism. So this one is glaringly obvious. There are certain employees who get special treatment and seem to get away with everything, such as making a $600 mistake and the owner letting it slide. When the owner has it out for you, you can't do anything right according to them.
4. General lack of professionalism. Although there is no dress code in the work place, there aren't official guidelines on how to act when I reviewed the contract (beyond the obvious/common sense). So we have a workplace full of people airing their dirty laundry; one person I worked with in particular told me way too much information about themselves when I was simply trying to do their work. This person was extremely condescending and backhanded as well.
5. Bullying. As much as you get this anywhere, I've singlehandedly witness the owner close in on someone and it would eventually egg on other people in the office. Employees have poor morale in general because of it. The main chat, where the owner and others share various pieces of information to keep the place running efficiently, can be rife with the owner or others making awful remarks.
6. No privacy. I've also witnessed (and heard) many people get some form of "discipline" from the owner in open spaces/in front of other employees. Not in the office, not over the phone or in private, literally in front of other employees and people who can hear everything going wrong which adds humiliation to people. This is a huge red flag, a sign of unethical behavior.
7. HR and Owner are married. Sometimes this isn't a big deal, however, it really hinders someone from being able to go to HR for certain things. Any decisions made by either party is certainly impacted because of the fact that they are married and they aren't hidden about it either.
In summation, I wouldn't recommend working here at all. I've talked with other people who have worked there who left due to mental health (including myself). This place needs some work and it permanently left a bad taste in my mouth.

Hard No
This place wasn't for me. Sure, the owner is alright but the lack of professionalism is a real turn off.
No, I don't mean dressing how you want, I mean the way people carry themselves. The fact that *certain* people think it's alright to talk bad and micromanage everything is kind of insane.
I mean really? You think you're some hot shot in a transportation company of all things? C'mon now, this isn't some television station in LA or a legal firm.
Grow up. Be professional. Do your job. Mind your business.
Stop acting so middle school about everything and get over it.
The place is lacking overall. The only redeeming quality is the fact that the pay is decent. Training is abysmal.
You can tell a lot of the people who work there are lifers because of how they act in every which way. What a joke.

Verified Reviewer |Horrible company to work with as employee or truck driver
Omar the owner is a piece of crap, he loves to belittle his employees because he thinks he is better than anyone. Largest ego ever.
He treats his emplotees like they are animals and tells them he will fire them in front of the entire office. The rules pertain only to everyone that is not him or Michele. She cant even manage to train herself to do a good job. How is she an office manager.
And the company us behind 350k in paying carriers. I would NEVER reccomend this company to anyone.

My mental health went to garbage shortly after starting here. The amount of belittling and bullying by the owner and select individuals was enough to get me to quit and move onto bigger, better things.
Horrible.
