Verified ReviewerExtortion
Extortionist jagoffs! $40 dollars a mile they charge for their services totaling $1638 on top of the $2900 ambulances charge. Dont fall victim to them.
Preferred solution: See them go out of business. Based of the reviews online. They have a track record of poor business practices.. and many consumers commented they just don’t care
User's recommendation: Stop using them and put there *** out of business!
Poor billing practiec
If you don't live in Michigan and have BCBS of MI insurance and have a way of avoiding using them, would strongly recommend exploring alternate method or ambulance services. They will bill your insurance then balance/surprise bill you after as ground ambulances are not covered under the No Surprises Act.
The actual ambulance service and staff were fine but their billing practices are shady at best and outright scamming those who most desperately need emergency services at worst.
You may not have a choice but avoid if possible if you don't want to stuck with an unreasonable balance bill at the end of it. Unfortunately it appears to be legal but extremely sketchy.
User's recommendation: Drive yourself or request a different ambulance company if possible.
I'm getting sued for a bill I paid in full
I had an issue in March where I received a call from a collections company this past March about a bill for Superior Ambulance from March 2021. One ER had me admitted out of network and after one night, the hospital had to transfer me back in network and they forced me to take an ambulance.
I Immediately started trying to resolve this and let Superior as well as the collections company know that I just found out about it, but I'm trying to resolve it. I asked why I never got a bill. They were sending the bills for over a year to an address I haven't lived at for over 14 years. I am not even sure how they got that address!
While I was trying to handle this with my insurance company, they threw me back into collections, this time with interest. I called with my insurance company to let them know I was still working on it and told them it wasn't my fault they mailed it to the wrong address over a year. Now they claimed they had mailed invoices to both addresses. They told me they wouldn't pull it out of collections unless I paid them the $374 the insurance company issued me on the claim the previous year.
At the time I received the check, I cashed it. I wasn't receiving bills, so I had no idea I owed money anywhere. I told them that I didn't feel comfortable issuing any money while my insurance dispute was ongoing because that can be construed as accepting the debt and I wasn't going to do that. I told them I'd be more than happy to pay them in full when it was resolved.
They hung up on me. I started getting bills every 2 weeks, though. In late June, my insurance company issued a check for everything but the $374 they had previously paid me and, upon receipt, I wrote a check to Superior for the full balance. The check was cashed on 7/6/22.
I received another bill on 7/11/22 for the same account and I called to verify the account was paid in full and closed. They confirmed. Yesterday, I received notification that the collections company is filing a lawsuit against me. I called them and they wouldn't tell me anything but referred me to their legal service that handles their lawsuits.
Sure enough, they're suing me. I gave her all the information about it being paid and she said she'd look into it and get back to me. I have yet to hear anything from them. In the meantime, I reached out to Superior.
She said that she would send an invoice that shows the account as paid in full as soon as I respond to an email that would authorize her to send my information via email, which I did. She came back with an invoice with a service date from 2018 saying I owed them money for that. I'm like wtf are you talking about?? The invoice date was for today and my address was my current address, so I asked her where they've been sending these invoices for the last 4 years.
She won't tell me. She can't give PHI without my consent now. I'm like wtf??? So I reached out to 2 different lawyers who pulled the actual lawsuit and all filed documents point to the fact that I'm being sued for the 2021 claim that I just PAID IN FULL!!!
Superior isn't even giving me valid information! I'm so mad! I'm glad I have lawyers looking into this because this is ridiculous. I pay my bills, but I can't pay something I don't know about!
This company is crap! I hope I never have to deal with them again after this!!

My mother set outside for 45 minutes at Northwestern waiting for the lady to figure out how to get my mom in the van and then they took her to the wrong facility. From what my mom said, she complained the entire way about how hard it was on her yet my mom is 84 who went through 9 hours of surgery. I would NEVER recommend this company.DD

Excessive balance billing practice...pure greed.
Swedish Amercan hospital forced my wife into using Superior for a 15 minute ride home and then after insurance pays them they still come after you for the balance billing. It was incorrectly entered as non emergency and these jerks will not change it even though my wife was hooked up to life support.
There is no negotiation. I was forced to use them twice and each time it was thousands out of pocket for a 5-mile ride.Don't use them unless you are rich.do
User's recommendation: start a class action lawsuit against this company who preys on the sick.
Heartless company
Heartless company. My mother had to use the carrier take a 5 mile trip home from the hospital.
Nobody called the family pick her up in the early early morning. Like vultures they stood there and waited for their prey then they charge my mother $1400 or home 5 miles. I called them and questioned the bill and they said that they would reduce it to $800. I told them that my mother only gets $1600 a month and they didnt care.
Like vultures on a prey all they wanted was their money.
This is the most heartless *** sucking that says they care about the elderly and just pray over them and steal their money from them.
Now you know why you see them praying around nursing homes and hospitals hoping to get some money.Dont bother trying to call customer service because youre taking money out of their pocket and they want it. Superior ambulance is a joke and should be shut down for the heartless concern for anybody and all they worry about is their pockets and how much money they can get from you.

Poor treatment of dying family member.
The company needs to change its name to Inferior ambulance. They transported a dying family from hospital to home August 2020.
They were aware that the house had 8 stairs so the 2-person crew had another 2-person crew meet them at the house . The patient weighed 160 pounds. On arrival all 4 went into the house leaving our dying loved one alone in the ambulance in the sun in the driveway. They would not let us go in there.
While in the house they argued who would go backwards as they all had bad ankles etc. Instead of a lift or stretcher they crumbled her hody in a sheet and when I saw her head position I cried. When I turned around again I saw our loved one laying on the hard floor. Apparently they put her there to adjust their ankles.
They had not a kind word for the dear patient or for us. I will review this pathetic company wherever I can and I reported them to the State of Indiana DHS.
Events wit messed by 3 family amembers and the hospice nurse. Dominoes is far more gentle and respectful delivering a pizza than these people.

Verified ReviewerFraudulent billing practices. Steer clear of Superior!!
My mother developed jaundice and we took her to a local ER. After hours in the ER and the hospital learning her medical history, the dr recommended she be transferred to the main parent Northwestern Hospital, where her former Oncologist could care for her. Her symptoms were complex and the staff said they did not have the expertise and recommended the transfer. We offered to take her but she was not discharged, she was transferred so that she could be monitored during the trip. She signed some forms because she is the insurance holder, but she absolutely signed them under duress, she was in no condition to read the material.
After the transfer, she was kept in the hospital for 5 days before being diagnosed with recurrent ovarian cancer.
Superior in trying to charge her $1920 for the transfer. They refuse to submit to Medicare because they say it was non-emergency. The hospital agrees it was an emergency transport and she was not able to be discharged. Medicare has asked for the reclassification of the code and Superior will not change it. We have made multiple calls trying to work this out and have the billing code corrected. The belligerent billing person is a complete imbecile and threatened collections after being completely disrespectful to my mother, who is currently undergoing the fight for her life.
Who is Superior to decide what is a medical emergency? The medical professionals have that expertise, not some half-witted driver. I am reporting this company to every agency imaginable and my mother will absolutely not pay this bill. We will hire an attorney first. I hope karma gets these *** I have already reported this to the hospital in hopes they protect future patients from this fraud of a company. They should be investigated before being permitted on hospital property.
Superior Ambulance Unprofessional
Superior Ambulance was the only service that went to an ER my daughter was at and transported her to a children’s hospital. I did not have a choice who took her or how all I knew was it was an emergency!
My Insurance paid them over 4100.00 dollars to take her less than 15 miles and they billed me for another 730. When I called and stated I didn’t understand and that I couldn’t afford it they offered to reduce the bill first to 360 then 300 BUT only if I paid it there on the phone!
They feed on people’s vulnerability and force them to pay over and above to those people that have Ins that is not “contracted” with them! It’s nice to know who little this company cares for the people they service and how willing they are to over charge for services (example- they billed for 350 dollars for mileage)

I work for this company and know for a fact that they want the higher licensing emt to treat the patient because they can bill more as a result. So someone my need a simple basic transport to but will be billed a ALS rate because the paramedic put them on a heart monitor
