Sunset Motors - Car Review from Billings, Montana

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This was a terrible shopping experience, worst I ever had. We had our financing ready to go and we asked if they would detail and clean it and fix a few things and he said yes.

They didn't have it cleaned and everything wasn't fixed and he said that's not policy or I'm sorry you feel that way, you can go elsewhere. The manager heard me say I'd like my check back then and he said JUST DO IT! We need the sale.

My check engine light came on the next day. Stay away from them in Boise Idaho

Sunset Motors made my day

My car was losing too much oil and was running really poor with horrible gas mileage. And then it stopped running all together. I was over 1000 miles away from my home town. I decided to fix it before I got stuck in the middle of no where. Visually I was leaking oil from the top of my motor.

I called a MOBILE MECHANIC FROM CRAIGS LIST to come in and inspect my car. This is what I was told:

4 axles, struts and springs, injectors, fuel pump, oil pump, oil sending unit, motor mounts, spark plus, wires, distributor, valve seals, valve guides, valve job, timing, belts, full service, transmission was going out, and a bad clutch. He was asking for 3000. but said for a thousand he can get me back on the road. These were things that he recommended not needed. I decided to get a second opinion. SO I TOOK MY CAR TO SUNSET MOTORS FOR A SECOND OPINION.

Brian ( Service Manager ) took my car in that same moment and said he would do the best job he could to get me back on the Road. I was heading back to Las Vegas and was just driving through. I dropped the car off and Sunset Motors even took me to the hotel I was staying at. Later that day I got a call back from Brian. He said his mechanic " Chris " had gone through the car. I was told: " I had a oil pressure sensor that needed cleaned. I was leaking oil from my valve cover it needed a gasket. I needed new spark plugs and wires as well as an air filter. As well as an oil change really really bad. Only two axles were bad. not all 4.

I was back on the road and made it all the way back TO VEGAS without any issues WHAT SO EVER!!!

almost a year later and the car still is perfect in my eyes! Except for the paint is fading but that's just the car and really has nothing to do with Sunset Motors.

Take it for what it is worth.

I have a 95 Eagle Talon, I have quite a bit of performance upgrades done to it. I have a good understanding of cars in my personal opinion. I felt I was given a Gods honest of whats wrong with my car. I dont feel there was anything that was done to the car that it didn't need.

so to recap:

My car didnt run well at all when it came in. I came in for a second opinion because the first estimate from the random Craigs list mechanic was too high from what I felt.

They charged me $400 dollars .

The parts I figured ( from a part shop in Vegas ) to be a little over 275. This was probably a 3 hour or so job including diagnosis. I feel like I got a great deal!!!

Thank you to Brian and Chris for taking care of my car! And if you ever read this THE AXLE STILL IS HOLDING UP !!! And I even went to a larger turbo like we spoke about! THANKS GUYS! GOD BLESS!

This a used car lot not a service center? There must be some mistake here.

Sunset Motors in CDA ripped me off BIG TIME

I bought a car from this, as I will quote Jeff Ostroff, "Devilship" rather than dealership about 2 years ago. I was 19 at the time with a 2 year old daughter and pregnant with my son. I was going through a very rough time and needed a car to get my children back and forth and took some money from my income taxes to put towards a down-payment.

My salesman's name was Buck I believe, and after everything had happened I wanted to UP-CHUCK! I felt rushed, pressured, and literally the whole time I sat there with paperwork in front of me, I felt like I had no voice and had no choice. I was naive and should have brought a more outspoken and less timid person than myself with me.

To make a long story short, the owner took the car a week after I bought it into the shop because electrical problems with the lights were happening and said that he would fix it on him because it was a safety issue. It was there 2 weeks, they did NOTHING to it, and wanted to charge me $650 for it.

Then, after the owner LAUGHED at me and said he wasn't paying it and I got my car back, 8 months later the engine went out. Out of nowhere. I still owed 3,000, and have been paying for it since and it has been collecting dust forever because it is upside-down and I can't afford to fix it, while I am still making payments on it.

You would think that in these economical times people would be more compassionate and the bad dealers would have more of a heart. I am a single mom trying my best, and lesson learned.

In my opinion these people are monsters, and if you are thinking about buying there, DONT!! Don't let the low prices reel you in, because, the car was a pile and drove awesome at first, but they knew what they wee doing.

Sorry after doing the math it was actually 3 years ago. I wish I had known sooner about this website, as I am sure I would have saved a lot of people from getting ripped off.
