The original issue started Labor Day Weekend, 2022. The boat spent 2 months in the shop.
It took weeks for the warranty department to aprove a repair and then they couldn't find a part. Ironically, while my boat was in the shop there was a recall for this exact issue....
We had put about 20 hours on the boat. The steering was pretty stiff from the beginning but assumed it would loosen up. Wrong. The first day of our fishing trip we launched the boat and it would not steer.
It was frozen up. We took it to the dealer for the warranty repair and it has been over 6 weeks waiting on parts. They say it will be at least 2 more, maybe a lot more. The dealer received the new helm but not the steering cable.
What is so difficult about a steering cable? Are they that specialized? Is there not aftermarket cables that would work? So far the score is on the water 20 hours - in the shop 1,032 hours and counting.
Suntracker customer service was no help.
It was such a great boat for the 20 hours that it worked. DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE!!!

Preferred solution: The boat fixed. There is probably nothing they can do about our disappointment.

I received a message that Sun Tracker will not provide any monetary help due to our loss of use. They say the warranty does not give us anything due to loss of use.
When scheduling the service, To minimize my loss of use, I asked that they have the materials to do the recall repair when I bring the boat in which they told me they did. Boat has been in service for over 30 days with no resolution to the recall repair in the near future. I have lost the use of my new 2023 boat due to no fault of my own and believe I should be compensated for this loss of use during the prime boating season. I have tried to contact someone from Sun Tracker Customer Service but have been given the run around while being unable to contact anyone in Customer Service.
Please have someone contact me immediately to resolve this recall repair matter and to discuss fair compensation for loss of use of this new boat. I have contacted "Pissed Consumer" (review number 529****) and I will be reaching out to others to let them know about my dissatisfaction if this is not fairly resolved.
When a new vehicle is recalled, the manufacturer provides a loaner. I believe the manufacturer of this new boat should also make restitution for a new boat that is out of service due to no fault of the owner.

Unhappy
Bought a brand new 2023 sun tracker in June all the little things and big things are having issues. The ignition keeps turning.
Weve tried to tighten it multiple times ( makes it hard to start when it just keeps turning) the board popped off on the trailer marking up the pontoons found out they used regular small bolts instead of lag bolts. Cupholder is pulling apart from the seat after the third time of taking it out Straps for the canopy broke the first time out, plastic pieces are coming off of the gates, coming in and going out of the boat, jack on the trailer is junk does not hold the boat up properly leans and looks like its going to fall over, the waterproof cover holds water. In fact, it held so much it bent the supports on the inside, destroying it and stretched the cover.
Im terrified of dropping the boat off to get it worked on and all these miscellaneous things done Ive heard people say that it takes months for them to get their boats back. Hopefully at the end of boating season Ill have a list they can fix.
