I joined up with sunlife for one reason only and that was because they advertise Funeral Plan for the over 50s.... while all the other insurance companies actually advertise Life insurance, at the age of 64 l would certainly not take out a Life Insurance, cut a long story short, l have been with them since 2016 and some months ago.... by chance I have found out l have a Life insurance and not a Funeral Plan and will be paying £26 a month till 2036.Misleading company

To all who have group Long Term Disability Insurance with Sun Life through their employer. I would would like to warn everyone that the coverage that they promise is deceptive and misleading.
They will do everything, and explore every possible avenue to stall, underpay, or downright underpay your claim. They will use their own physician, to try and override your own acting physician. They will do on-line surveillance on you, as well as they will hire someone to monitor your activities, as to try and catch you doing something inconsistent with your medical condition. They will coerce you into applying for Canada Pension Disability Benefits, so they can steal them from you.
These are benefits that you paid for independently from Sun Life premiums, and they belong to you not Sun Life. Since these benefits are taxable, then you will be required to pay the income tax on this money. Sun Life expects you to be fully upfront and honest with them when you file a claim, but they conveniently fail to mention these things when you purchase a policy for your protection should you become unable to work. This company is out to make huge profits, and they don't make money by paying out claims.
Expect problems, delays, and stress if you continue to deal with Sun Life, because the financial protection that thought you had is a scam. Avoid Sun Life.

To anyone that has group Long Term Disability Insurance through Sun Life, please be advised that the financial security that they promise you when you purchase the policy in the event you become unable to work due to a medical condition, is a 95% scam. This company will make every effort to deny your claim, no matter how legitimate it my be.
They are unsympathetic, lack empathy, and care only about their bottom line. Please do some research, and you'll find the many others that are struggling with this company to get the coverage they were promised, and paid for. I'm not trying to deliberately destroy the reputation of this company........they are doing that themselves. I hope to post a live on-line video in the future of the false financial security behind Group Long Term Disability Insurance through Sun Life.
Expect delays, and problems if you continue to do business with this company.
You've been warned. AVOID SUN LIFE!!!!!!!!!

To all those who have purchased, or are thinking about purchasing Long Term Disability Insurance through Sun Life, if you think you will be covered if you are unable to work, as Sun Life claims, then think again. This company makes every effort to deny your claim.
If you are approved, then they will force you to apply for Canada Pension Disability Benefits, so they can take it, leaving you to pay the Income Tax on it.
This company is in business to collect premiums, not pay out claims, and the one thing that you can count on, is that they will keep their own best interests in mind, not yours. Expect problems, delays, and financial stress if you do business with Sun Life.

BEWARE OF SUN LIFE FINANCIAL
THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY. THEY ARE THIEVES.
THEY HAVE NO "CUSTOMER SERVICE" BECAUSE THEY JUST DON'T CARE!
My mother is 96. She opened a Money Market Account 3/21/1991 for $18,219.08. This account was valued at $26,670.43 on 2/20/2000. We closed an insurance policy in January with a value of less than $13,000.
Sun Life emailed me today that this was my mother's original investment with all interest included!
This of course is a lie.
Despite many promises to return my calls and emails, they have avoided discussion of my Mom's policy. It is awful the way they have treated my mother and I and I really resent it.
