Because they were so near my house, and the supposed (baloney) benefits of them touting having been around so long, I decided to give them a try. Service call cost to diagnose water heater problem was $57, which seemed quite reasonable. But then they suck you in with a cheap basic diagnostic charge so that they can then STEAL FROM YOU BLIND!!!! The thief they sent to my house tried to quote me $550 just to replace the heater's thermocouple (a less than $20 part, and about half an hour to install, if that). He also quoted me $2850 if I wanted to replace the water heater, since (using scare tactics) he "couldn't guarantee" that the thermocouple replacement would solve the problem for very long (more baloney). A water heater with super-easy access like ours takes about 1.5 hours to replace, if that, and good heaters can be had for $600. So I told him to get out of my house. I told my handyman to meet me at Home Depot in half an hour. I bought a great GE heater for $580, we put it in his pickup, bought a couple connector pipes while we were there, and he put the whole thing in in about 1 hour. Total cost, less than $650, installed for over 400% less than these *** artists tried to charge me! They claim to have been around since 1966, but I'd bet some thief bought out the original owners. NOBODY THIS CROOKED COULD KEEP DOING BUSINESS IN THIS MANNER FOR VERY LONG!!!!

You are an *** sir. Do you want them to do the work for just the cost of parts?
It's a business. They spend $300-$500 in overhead just to get a technician to your door. If your such a genius then why don't you do it your self?
Or call a "handyman". Btw Ge water heaters are *** and you will be replacing that soon.
Dont blame the technician. They dont set the prices.
Its the owner and the service manager who do. The owner is the one ripping people off and then he makes the technicians go out and try to sell at bloated prices. I used to work for them and had to leave cause of the face that people were getting ripped off all the time and I felt bad. The company was charging 3 to 4 times what other companies would charge to seniors, people who had money problems and anyone else.
It was criminal the prices he was charging and he didnt care. He lives in a huge house that is bought for by overcharging customers. Take a look at their building at 910 Braddock Ave. Does that look like a place you would want to work or the kind of place that a company charging those prices should be?
His employees are constantly in danger of crime in that area and the place is infested with rats. Guess the 2850 that he made on the water heater cant pay for an exterminator huh?
He pockets all the money and doesnt pay his employees unless they sell to unrealistic sales goals. In this economy he is probably hurting more than other companies so that might make it a little better.
