Verified ReviewerYou guys are rediculous
I'm sure that subject line is not going to get any or attention and I know it's not the most professional way to start off an introduction, but I'm less than pleased and just shy of furious. I discontinued your service because of OVER CHARGING.
I mean by almost DOUBLE of competitors in our area. People that have come out ON THE SPOT when I've called them. You guys..."well that will be an extra charge" or "someone will be there someday". Now when you wanted my business, you had NO PROBLEM getting me a tank full of gas here in less than a weeks time, after 2 days of rain and putting tire tracks all through my yard.
Now after I discontinued my service in DECEMBER..."well...we can get to it in April." NO that's unacceptable. "We can put you on a cancellation/ first available list" I'm thing well surly that won't take till April. Well, here we are...I have landscapers that need to get in here and I'm still waiting. I call the local office this morning (3/11)..."well it's going to April because no one will be in the area".
That's BULL. You can't tell me that in the last 3 months Suburban hasn't has A SINGLE TRUCK in the area dropping off a tank with the ability to pick up my tank. SO...here's the deal. After speaking with my lawyer, I am within my rights to charge for the land usage to store YOUR tank on MY property.
My rate is $25/ day starting the day of cancellation of service. There will need to be payment presented with you are here to pick up what is essentially MY tank currently.
If it is not paid in full, the tank will stay. A fee of $100 will be assed for a late penalty after 4/9/24 and the property rent will increase to $75/day.
- Horrible service
Preferred solution: I would like their property removed from mine Immediately
User's recommendation: I would not recommend Suburban. Horrible customer service.

Verified ReviewerOverfilled tank ? and Overcharged !
We rent a propane tank from Suburban, but won't be after this tank is empty. $80 yr to rent then Suburban charges generally $1.00 + more per refill per gallon.
Our current bill show Suburban filled tank with 92.4 gallons then and additional 13 gallons on the same trip. When I call Suburban or Google how much will a 120 gallon tank hold the answer is 96 gallons. Therefore, Suburban over filled our tank by 9.4 gallons... a NO NO per safety regulations.
They also charged us twice for "Transportation Fuel Surcharge" of 9.36 TWICE and Twice for "Safety P&T Fee" $12.92 TWICE. TERRIBLE Customer Service to follow.
I've left two messages in the past 28 days regarding this over billing. Have just spoke with another rep who also said 96 gallons max and has told me he will have to call me back as he is uncertain and unauthorized to take care of this.
Buy a tank outright and save a fortune on rent and the gouging of Suburban's corporate greed!

Verified ReviewerTo warn others of this company!
An Extremely ill ran company that doesnt care about their customers, they lie to you & drive their prices through the roof.
Being a loyal customer (over 15 yrs)and paying my bill in full upon receipt, it was an annual chore for me calling suburban propane to lower my unit price in order to fill my 500 gallon propane tank every fall. 3 months ago, my annual chore began when they were charging me $6.98 per gallon when offering new customers $1.99/gallon.
I was told by a rude representative that that was the market price and she could not do anything about it. I then asked to talk to the manager-which she then claimed she was the manager. 2 lies-she was not a manager, let alone THE manager and the market price was $2.89/gallon ($4 less than what they were charging).
After dealing with this rude lady I ended up calling around and found 3 propane companies that were amazing! I choose to go with one of those 3.
I called back suburban propane and again had to deal with this rude individual. I explained to her I was switching companies and putting in another tank, needing theirs removed. She then got mad and told me I was not to touch or move their tank and they would be out to collect it. She gave me a date 5 weeks ahead when she knew I never had any propane in my tank to heat my house.
Againshe did nothing to help me out. Fast forward 2 monthsto nowtheir tank is still sitting there empty and they have not collected it. Apparently they enjoy playing games with their long term customers and being extremely spiteful when you choose to go a different direction. Im a single mom of two children and evidently suburban propane thinks its acceptable to leave such a family with no means to heat their house at Christmas.
They have also sent me a bill for the tanks rentalagaintrying to get every penny they can from you.
I am highly disgusted with this company and the way I am still being treated.
WARNING TO EVERYONE CONSIDERING SUBURBAN PROPANE!!! DONT!!!

Verified ReviewerHorrible service
- Terrible company
- Too many to list
Preferred solution: NOTHING, hope they go bankrupt, they should not be in business....
Poor service
When we had no heat in our place we connected suburban and got a lot of different stories from different associates and no one could get their facts straight and we were getting very frustrated with the customer service agents. We had called and had a payment plan set up and no one put into our account that we had one.
So when we got home from getting food for the week and we also called earlier before we suspected they turned out heat off. No one told us that it was going to be has been turned off when called. The also put the slip on the door we never use.
We called also called and set up an appointment with another company to see what the could see the problem was and we have call the company back and cancel it. We think the customer care agents should get more training with the company policies.
Preferred solution: The customer service agents get more training on the company's policies with past due amount and let the customers know when the date of there service is going to be turned off

Verified ReviewerTo inform people that bad reviews are not always true
First of all, if you are reading this review- I am glad! I hope that.
like us, you do not just read the bad reviews. I cannot imagine that many of them hold weight since my husband and I have had nothing but positive and overwhelmingly GOOD customer service. I want to recognize two employees (and a third one whom unfortunately I did not get his name but he was out of the NY call center). Wendee Barracks was the customer service rep whom we initially dealt with when calling for the first time.
Not only is she absolutely LOVELY and pleasant over the phone, but she went above and beyond to help us. We have had 3 positive experiences with her and she treated us with such respect over the phone and followed up with us as well. Dan (unsure of last name) was amazing also-he did the site assessment and made us feel nothing short of VIP! He also arranged to remove an old rusted propane tank from the previous homeowner and did that immediately the very next day!
He was also extremely pleasant over the phone and helpful.
I can't imagine that after receiving such good, consistent customer service that the negative reviews have anything to do with the Portland office-which clearly is FANTASTIC! Thank you and we are looking forward to being long-time customers.
- Great customer service
Preferred solution: I want to recommend them!

You need a better lawyer. A competent one would never tell you to speak, write or post online about this issue. Your fake threat is meaningless.
Who said it's fake? I've already sent them the invoice with the current amount and an explanation letter ;) At this point in my frustration...I might paint the tank to look like a giant...uh...hotdog...with their logo.
I have a gate they have to buzz in to get on my property, so yes, I believe that makes a bit of a trick to get to the tank if I want to be the same pain that they are. As this is something that is not being officially litigated, nor do I think it will escalate to that...your comment is a bit meaningless. Besides...most issues like this are tried in the eyes of public opinion on social media. This is not a smear campaign.
I'm just another of the numerous unsatisfied customers with Suburban. Have a good evening.
