Totally screwed by Stone Mountain Toyota!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Had an O2 sensor replaced elsewhere and immediately faced problems afterwards. Since my wife was planning to buy a new Toyota in a month or so, we figured we'd try Stone Mountain Toyota. That was a huge mistake! They had my truck for 3 weeks. Unfortunately, I ended up in the ER during this time and, as a result, had to have someone else take me there since I still didn't have my truck. Consequently, I asked them to replace my front brakes since I was unable to do it myself.

Eventually, I managed to retrieve my truck. However, nothing had been fixed. I can't drive on the highway, the front brakes are non-existent, and I can't afford to get it actually fixed now since I was cheated out of $800. Quite abysmal, absolutely abysmal. This is why keeping records is important - it's always useful for an attorney. I'm glad we kept everything documented from this nightmare.

We won't be getting our new vehicles from this location and probably, considering our family's generations-long history of buying Toyotas, will switch to another company. Also, there is no service manager who seems to care about this or attempts to make things right in any manner whatsoever. Trust has been completely destroyed.

Preferred solution: Either refund or FIX my truck. Addressing the increasing placed this has/is being publicly posted would also be nice.

Car damage not disclosed

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I purchased a Corolla at this place with very low millage. After looking at the car fax report I kept questioning about the low millage and if the car had been in other accidents.

I was assured that it had not. We shortly inspected the car, and did not see anything wrong with it. It drove nicely and looked very nice from the inside. I asked if the recalls could be taken care of, oil changed and so on and left the car at the dealer ship for another day for them to take care of it.

I picked up the car and once I took it home inspected the car with my brother. The car most likely had huge water damage and rust, or it has been t-boned on the passenger side. Which was not disclosed by sales person. The passenger doors were not closing correctly and you could see the repair, patching, that was done around the door.

The car also smelled like spray paint and some areas looked like they were freshly spray painted. The bottom of the car had some welding done to it and you could see that it had been rusted out and "fixed". I drove the car back to SM Toyota and was told that they can reassess the value of the car and let me trade it in for another car. The manager would not come out of the dealership to talk to me.

Asked me to come in, but I refused because I knew that i will be surrounded by a bunch of other managers who will talk me out of everything. Few days later I took the car to a carwash and the top right corner of the windshield was leaking so bad that i had to cover the vent and dashboard with a towel. The doors have been painted inside since they do not match the driver side door and you can see the overpaint on the window. Since I left the car at Toyota for maintenance, there is no way that anyone cleaning it and washing would not have seen the leak.

For the past few days I have been noticing more and more issues.

Right speaker does not work, key does not work remotely, tag lights have been removed, floor carpet is loose, right rearview mirror cannot be adjusted electronically, the right side doors lock does not work (electronics on right side are pretty much useless). Most rubber seals are worn out or loose to the point that one flew off the roof and one flops around when in car wash.

The floor manager called the police on me for no reason

Stone Mountain Toyota - The floor manager called the police on me for no reason

I was sitting in the lobby, quietly, waiting for my car to be serviced as I bought it yesterday. Four policeman show up and told me that Ive been told multiple times to leave.

The truth is never approached me even once. They saw me sitting with my duffel bag full of drinks, and assumed that I had no reason to be here.. when the police arrived I was told I need to leave now and had been asked to leave multiple times to leave. .

The nice lady who operates the front desk Identified me to the police and told them I am a paying customer and I do belong here. However the manager lied. I was not asked one time to do anything especially leave . This establishment is a mess.

Poorly managed sells broken cars, I was actually sold a car with broken head gasket. It would have been. a great vehicle, and I spent all the money I had on it they left me stranded 2 hours away with no vehicle until I was able to get back to dealership. I was told I would be put in something nicer for my struggles, then the floor manager, Melvin who supervises about six people told me to my face.

If I want another car Ill have to give them more money. It was made clear that I was not giving them anymore money and Im supposed to be in a much nicer vehicle of lower miles and higher value than what I had before.

The vehicle Im in now is not ideal, but will work for now. Not at all what I wanted, as they told me the Toyota Camry, that I wanted cost more and they cant give it to me. I can tell you honestly the mechanic and the salesman I dealt with both said Id be upgraded.

That was not the case. Melvin tried to screw me over because theres nothing He was wanting to give me off the lot.. Also, Melvin is not the manager over everyone(manages 6 people totalThe dealership managerthats the manager (Tracey) had called the police on me. The service department lied and said I was here at 7am(I arrived at 8 and my car door was opened for me by the salesman that showed up on his day off.

I was not here at 7 thats confirmed. I asked for money to be given back they and they said not till Thursday. They tried to withhold 20,000 dollars from me because they had to wait till Thursday for the right people to sign the check and they are currently in Florida handling business. I was completely left without a car.

Luckily the salesman found me a decent replacement vehicle with just slight damage that is being repaired as we speak. Im sitting here quietly playing a video game with my apple AirPods in and the police tried to make me leave! This will be made right or I will never take this down.

Its completely legal for me to post this. They have to reach out to me for reconciliation.

User's recommendation: Do not bother coming to the dealership at all the price your car is too high will sell you absolutely anything to get rid of you, Mark them way above bluebook value just the start and wait till you see the ridiculous taxes that don’t exist anywhere else

Something major is missing from this story even though it's too long the way it is.

Dishonest repairs. inspections, diagnostics and poor customer service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Took my 2009 Camry LE into Stone Mountain Toyota because oil light was on. No oil registered on dipstick.

They did oil change and I was told to come back after 1000 miles. Returned after 1600 miles and again there was no measurable oil. Oil light never came on this time. Dealer told me they didn't know why.

Wanted $1120 to tear down engine for diagnostic. Put additional additive in with oil change saying this might help. Checked internet and found out this is a well known problem with my year and model. Have had my car serviced at this dealer since buying the car and was never informed that there was or could be problem.

My car only has 101,622 miles.

Car now needs a new engine, that as a retired, 71 year-old single female, I cannot afford. I was allowed to drive out without the knowledge that my car could break down at any time which could cause an accident or leave me stranded. Stone Mountain Toyota has a poor review record of only 1.3 stars. I am thoroughly disgusted and disappointed.

I thought I could trust this dealership, but I see now that I was wrong.

I have told all my friends and acquaintances about this place. They have lost my business for repairs and the purchase of another vehicle.

If you're really 71 you'll remember when the wheels fell off the ordinary car at @ 50,000. Now you have one with double that mileage that has obviously bee consuming or losing oil for sometime and you blame the dealership ? Maybe it's time to hang up the keys.

Non working overhead console display

Toyota has refused to acknowledge that the breakdown of the unit is a cronic problem that effects apparently all tacoma's that have the overhead temp/ compass display. according to the service people at the dealership ,the design allows the heat to build up after a few years and destroys 2 resisters ,preventing the unit from working.

The dealer says they can only replace the entire unit ,rather than repair it, and charge "a lot of money for a 10 minute labor job". I don't think that's fair and Toyota should make good on a poor design, defective unit.

Resistors by their nature generate heat. They will fail over time. It should be a cheap and easy fix.

Stone Mountain Toyota won't leave their chairs to sell a car

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Showed up at around 6PM (they're open til 8pm) 1/144/16 to look at a new Rav 4 to replace our OLD Rav 4; pulled up right in front of the front door. No one came out to greet us or show us around.

We found some cars on our own but they were all "special cars" that had dealer add-ons adding about $2K to the price we wanted. No sales person showed up. We looked around and waited for around 15 minutes, then we lost patence and left - but not before ducking into the office where there were staff sitting around doing nothing and a woman was messing around with fruit baskets. We told the very large manager that we had been there and were leaving and his only excuse was that he "didn't know" we were there - despite the fact that we had parked no more than 10 feet from their front door.

We had driven especially to Stone Mountain Toyota because they are where we get the car serviced and we felt some kind of mistaken misplaced loyalty to them. They must be doing real well if they can slag off $25K in business.

Unhappy Toyota Avalon owner

My 2007 Avalon appears to be idled too high and it sounds awful. When I'm slowing down or stopped in traffic it surges and jerks forward on its own.

The dealer says nothing is wrong but I'm afraid I will hit someone or something some day. The Service department at Stone Mountain Toyota sucks. I wouldn't advise anyone to buy their maintenance agreement because it's not worth it.

They are in the business of selling cars only...and they could care less about service, quality, or repeat business. My advise to anyone seeking to buy a car is to stay away from STONE MOUNTAIN TOYOTA!!
