Verified Reviewer |Two and a Half Month Wait for Countertops, Then they Contaminated My House
- - Lowe's project delayed; countertops arrived 2.5 months after cabinets.
- - Cutting on the patio left doors open and caused silica dust contamination.
I contracted for new kitchen cabinets and quartz countertops through Lowe's. The countertops arrived 2.5 months after the cabinets were installed (March 2024).
Then the countertop installers arrived with un-cut, un-formed quartz material and set up on my patio to cut the quartz material. They left the doors open (three sets) and contaminated my house with silica dust.
It is now February 2025, and my house is still contaminated. I got pushed back and forth between Stone Interiors and Lowe's. Stone Interiors' installer has no insurance.
Lowe's doesn't want to pay to clean up the mess (I was low-balled) or compensate me for loss of use (almost ten months 25% of my house is sealed off from the contamination).
It has been eleven months since the fiasco began, but NOBODY has the maturity to take full responsibility.
Lowe's farmed the claim out to an out-of-house attorney.
If you check yelp, Google Reviews, and BBB for Stone Interiors of South Carolina, you will find dozens of complaints about them, but Lowe's continues to send them work.
See the suspended particle readings below. They read MILLIONS higher than OSHA allows in the workplace.
Stay away from Lowe's AND Stone Interiors.
- Are careless and unprofessional

Verified ReviewerThree Months With No Countertops, Then Silica Contamination of My House
- - Delays measuring and installing left the kitchen unusable for months.
- - Quartz cut on the patio left silica dust in the home.
Stone Interiors is a subcontractor to a national home improvement chain. I contracted for new cabinets and new quartz countertops.
Stone Interiors took three weeks to arrive to measure the new cabinets, then it took even longer to come install the countertops. My household was without a functional kitchen for over three months.
Worse, the installers cut the quartz material on my patio and made a huge mess that one month and three rainstorms later is still caked with quartz dust. They also left the back door open and allowed silica dust created by the fabrication to enter my house.
I had air professional air quality readings taken. The readings indicated contamination hundreds of times higher than acceptable.
The acceptable number of particles per cubic foot is 25. The readings indicate much higher than that.
(See photos).
Neither the home improvement company nor STONE INTERIORS OF SOUTH CAROLINA will take responsibility for the damages.
I wish that I had done some research into STONE INTERIORS OF SOUTH CAROLINA. Comments left on Yelp, the BBB, and Google indicate dozens of projects BY STONE INTERIORS OF SOUTH CAROLINA during the past eighteen months.
The cost of the countertops was $5400.00 The cost of cleaning the patio and the recreation room plus positive continuous air filtration will exceed that amount.
User's recommendation: USE GOOD SENSE. DON'T CONTRACT WITH STONE INTERIORS OF SOUTH CAROLINA. YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND UPON IT !!!!!

UPDATE : When asked the name of its insurance company, Stone Interiors gave the name of the insurer of its PRODUCT. I cannot make a claim against the manufacturer of the product because Stone Interiors is at fault, not the product.
Stone Interiors has no intention of cooperating. I tracked down the president of this outfit and requested a copy of its certificate of insurance. He sent me a copy of his installer's certificate of insurance. He also told me that my homeowners insurance should get involved.
(I already called my insurer, and she laughed). I asked for contact information for his company's general counsel. No reply to that one. In his terse reply to my request for information, he expressed surprise that I had contacted him.
Over THREE MONTHS after this countertop nightmare began and three months of asking Lowe's when my countertops would be delivered, his book keeper called to deny that the installers had done anything wrong. (She must be blind. I sent lots of photos). She DID offer to send the guys back to see what they could do to clean up.
I declined. I didn't like the menacing demeanor of the big guy when I told him that he's have to enter the house through the back door. No, thanks. I have learned my lesson.
I also told her that I didn't want to talk to her because the proper chain of communication should be Stone Interiors---- Lowe's Home Improvement ----- Customer (me). That is accepted practice in contracting. I was very polite about it. Ms.
T persisted and called me back, not to discuss the matter, but to deny that the installers had done anything wrong. I told her that if she called me again, I would take a restraining order out on her. That is the correct reply to harassment. The idea of chain of communication is lost on her.
I replied to Stone Interiors' president and reminded him of the chain of communication. I also gave him the phone number of my homeowner's insurance agent and requested that he call. He won't call. Stone Interiors has a very bad reputation on Yelp (scroll down) BBB, and Google reviews.
I will update this complaint as it develops. This is the beginning of MONTH FIVE
