Stevens Transport Driving Academy Review from Dallas, Texas

Safety people and "Red Shirts" are a joke! Im sitting in the yard as I type this and just watched a Red Shirt speeding through the yard and not wearing a seat belt. Practice what is preached people! Pay does suck. Miles suck too. It is hard to make ends meet out there. I have found out that there are better training companies out there that take better care of their recruits and drivers both financially and professionally. I got lucky with a great driver manager who works her *** off for me to make sure im taken care of.

Stevens Transport - Employee Experience Review from Houston, Texas

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Sure, We'll take you in .Brainwash you into believing you'll make up to 40k a year. We'll explain the contract you. Which you will eagerly sign because your green and you dont know any better. We'll rush you through the sign up process you'll forget to ask for a copy. And if you ask for one we'll convieniently forget to give you a copy. Then you'll be rushed through a skills assesment test designed to get you out the door into trainers truck. And the Trainer will not. Work on those items you need help on cause he's to busy trying to make sure you run miles rather than work on your other techniques.

Pros and Cons,

Pros not worth mentioning because it does not off offset the cons.

Cons :1.When you get started your just waiting around for days to weeks until you get a trainer.2. God forbid your overweight that means your get put on med hold until clear required testing.3. Hopefully you get a good trainer otherwise you'll be stuck with an unprofessional *** trainer. That is a 30 day nightmare.4. Should you finish training on time you'll hopefully get a truck before 2 weeks is the longest i seen as the worst case scenario but it may be longer if your a complainer.

5. Get ready for the east coast the first week out as a new driver. This is typical for the new Driver. They can't get any senior drivers to go there. They arent crazy or *** enough To go there.6. As a new Driver Forced Dispatch is thier top money maker. So if they send you there to NYC you better go otherwise, Dispatch will punish you and keep you sitting for up to a week at a truck stop.7. If you are thinking of leaving a cushy or ok paying job, Just stay there unless you like making $230-375 a week at best.8. I've went through 3 companies now and thier all full of ***. Promises promises, low pay and you may never come home if its up to them. Its like working in Servitude. And they keep doing it to everyone new and green to the industry.9. You are never really your own boss. They wake you up with the Quallcomm onboard computer they can Listen in on all your conconversations video may be there too if not soon will come. No real privacy.10. They will have you waiting to get live loaded 4-12 hrs in most cases you waste time not rollin.11. You will be very stressed out about working for these people you'll be a danger on the road and youll end up probrably having an accident due to stress of low or no pay in some cases.12. They mention drop and hook. Forget about it thats only for senior drivers and Trainers. Its all live loads for you especially if you end up company. You can bring home more working for Mc.Donalds.13. HEED THE WARNING THE SAME GOES ON AT ALL THE OTHER TRUCKING COMPANIES. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED...STAY HOME FIND YOU A JOB ANY JOB WILL PAY YOU MOR THAN TRUCKING TRUST ME SAVE YOUR SELF THE HEADACHE....

Nightmare

This company will not appreciate you standing up or defending yourself at anytime during employment. If you are a strong willed, an intelligent individual, who stands up for your beliefs and for what is right, then pony up and get ready to have unpleasant, degrading and unprofessional meetings with the Vice President, CEO and top Safety officials who try to use their power and job titles as scare tactics. If you are not willing to ask tough questions, defend yourself and stand up for what is right, than have it in your mind that you will always be wrong and at fault. Continue to fall, get ran over and kneel to their transgressions and you will go far with this company. Safety is their pride and joy, for that's their security blanket, their cloak they hide behind and their crutch to fully pass blame onto the driver in the midst of their own knowledgeable negligence. This company has no integrity as you have been lied to several times to be swayed into their world of scams. This company has no place in America and should relocate to China, Russia or any other country that have no problem violating human rights and engaging in sweatshop practices. You will work your hardest, longest and most tiring weeks ever and be rewarded with a $23 check. I guarantee with 100% certainty, you find yourself working 75-80 hour weeks minimum without a restart and be handed a "0" dollar paycheck, and that's on the company side! Now, the alliance side you will hopefully become a MPG Master, because your trying to do everything you can to succeed at this new "business" and opportunity you think you've been granted; in which, unfortunately being a MPG Master means ababsolutely nothing due to the fact Stevens Transport fights you every step of the way by litigating and micromanging your business to their benefit and in the end you will not get the miles you need to sustain a healthy financially stable way of life. You will get $-377, $-257, and $-400 paychecks after working 70+ hour weeks and that's a guarantee, no matter how hard you try. Grievously, when you maintain your MPGs and buy your fuel with a business frame of mind, Stevens Transport will not work with you and get you the miles you need and want; although, you will always, and I reiterate the word "always", get the miles you need to pay them your loan payment for their school you went through, your fuel you purchase and your weekly truck payment leaving you high and dry. Stevens Transport dictates and micromanages your business so much that you are constrained to living off of your cash advances; in which, inevitably engulfs your next already lean paycheck keeping you in the negative and living more off of your future cash advances. This company lives and thrives having your life in their hands to minupulate for their personal gain. However there are a very, and I mean very few drivers here at Stevens Transport who love Stevens Transport, but the majority of the drivers here are struggling, hurting and barely keeping their heads above water. Please and I desperately plead with you to please think twice before joining the corrupt ranks of Stevens Transport. This is not the place for you or anyone. Stevens Transport is nafarious, fraudulent and criminal.

He is dead on! Im currently slaved in with screws transport.

I went company side and my highest paycheck has been $0.42. If you stand up for yourself and demand more miles they take loads from you and tell you to take this new load 160 miles, then sit for 3 days till you can deliver it. Then they will get you another load where you will sit for another 2 days before you can pick it up. Once you get that load on the road they take it from you again and give you another *** run.

My biggest regret coming to screws transport was thinking I was going to make money.

Now my house is gone, vehicle repoed, and have a *** load of debt. All thanks to this company.

I wrote this review. Get some kind of truck schooling.

Then get away from the big trucking companies as fast as you can and find a small trucking company. Small trucking companies; in which, I work for one now, take so much better care of you and pay extremely well and most of all they are extremely fair to their drivers and put them 1st.

Guest

So Stevens sucks, what companies do you recommend?

Guest

A man brother all that which you said is truth I second. That........... Stevens driver too

Sounds like to me your a dumb*** stevens transport kiss *** driver John. Money management was never an issue nor was my time management *** bag.

They NEVER LISTENED TO ME. Always taking me off of 2,800 mile loads and putting me on 150 mile loads. How in the *** is someone suppose to live off of 1700-**** Miles a week with truck payment, fuel and everything else getting takin out of our checks. Time management and budgeting my money was never an issue *** bag.

I'm working for a smaller, but way better company now that is 100xS than Stevens and I litterally have $3,194 saved up just in 3 1/2 weeks. This is an example of a good company taking care of their drivers.

Take your dumb*** time management, budgeting, sticking up for stevens kiss*** somewheres else. STEVENS TRANSPORT IS FRAUDULENT!!!

Guest

Sounds to me like you had a problem with money management. Not only that but time management as well.

No body gives you anything in this business, you have to show you can do the job. If you are paying student loans and leasing a truck straight out of training, who's fault is that. Just proves there you weren't ready to be the boss. I have been with this company for 12 years and have had 0 paychecks ( my fault) and 1600.00 paychecks ( again my fault).

Too many people think this is a game. It's not. This industry is the prime example of " those who don't work don't eat." Oh and I won't hide behind anonymous.

Slaughterhouse and Auction Business

Where to begin with this outfit? Well I'll start by saying that the school and training is what one could ask for if you are willing to learn.

But beware all of the rats in the cellar in this place. However if you have a good paying job, make sure you take a leave of absence and wait for what may come before you let it go. You'll probably wonder what it's like when you get yourself a Driver Manager. If you're new to the school and already solo, make for sure you don't end up with some yahoo named Darryl Wheeler as your DM.

If you're African American he'll play the "we're bruthas" card and "we need to know what it's like to own our own" jazz just to pressure you into Alliance Leasing. I'd go into that but they've damaged themselves enough in the trucking industry. He will *** over and over again while trying to make it seem as if everything is your fault despite you only trying to follow orders. And don't end up messing up even in the least bit while driving.

Safety has to be the worst set of individuals (save for a few in there) to ever walk the face of this cursed Earth. They down talk you and make you wait for a week and a half before you can see what their decision is on your fate (depending on how bad). You'll deal with Jerel first who has zero to no people skills whatsoever and acts as if he's Jesus Christ himself and has NEVER sinned. Then you deal with the butt plug known as Adrian Wheeler who's sole purpose is to see to it that you're fired or even probated worse than you already are.

From some of the drivers and different forum posts I've read and heard, there are many who want to take a brick to this guy. Now comes the fun part. IF you did in fact get your CDL through them and were fired or quit long before your year, get ready for the calls. Stevens Transport will sale your contacts to the collection agencies that they contract.

One man I know actually found that William Rush and Associates had called him first. Then they doubled back and called his wife and mother whom were his emergency contacts while he was employed with the company.

Long story short. If in fact you are thinking of working for this outfit, don't be easily swayed by lies and deceit.

Yes, there are many that the company was "good to" and they pleasure themselves by stating it and trying to silence those who will tell you some of the ridiculous things that this company is willing to do just to make one's life *** and still look good in the face of the DOT and the federal government. You have been warned.<3

I worked for Williams for quite some time. It was close to me and I stayed longer than I should have just based on ease of getting to work.

This company is the worst of the worst of bottom feeder collections. The practices are unethical and in many cases, illegal.

The Stevens accounts aren't being serviced and Stevens is not their "client." The defaulted loans were sold outright. They paid pennies on the dollar for them and want to maximize their profit. First and foremost, nothing can be done to your CDL.

They will tell you they will file against your DAC for non-payment. That is impossible. Please know that cannot happen.

This "talk-off" was implemented by an employee who is NOT an attorney, paralegal, or familiar with law in general.

They needed a strong talk-off when they began purchasing the loans, and this person did some basic Google searches on truck drivers and made this up. That is the truth.

Many of the Stevens loans, College Network, credit cards, and others in the portfolio are very old. Statutes of Limitation vary from state to state, but the vast majority of the loans are out of stats. This means they couldn't do anything if they wanted to.

In some cases the debt is over 7 years and erroneously placed on credit bureaus. Technically if the loan is in stats you could be sued civilly, with a judgement placed against you and possible garnishment if your state allows. This company will threaten these actions, but they won't do anything because it's too costly.

They pressure their collectors to threaten debtors with garnishment in non-garnishible states, trying to reason that it's an education loan. This is false and a blatant violation of FDCPA.

In non-garnishable states the only way one can be garnished is for state/government matters, such as student loans, child support, etc. This company is very hard on their collectors. They pressure FDCPA violations while saying they don't tolerate them. I was actually told that if I received a violation that I was on my own and they wouldn't back me.

However if I didn't use their talk-off I was subject to disciplinary action. The owner and "supervisor" (they are long-time friends) hover over the collectors. They will criticize and berate right on the floor in front of everyone. They feel embarrassing their collectors will yield greater results.

Collectors are written up if they don't meet expectations, which are set in such a way that it is very difficult to meet. They routinely fire collectors for not meeting quotas. The quotas are set very high and limits are placed on the collectors as to what kind of payments they can take. They will not allow debtors to make payments less than $100 or so.

If you try to pay what you can and it is not satisfactory to them, they will transfer you to a "senior rep" who will aggressively pressure you to pay more or face legal consequences. Collectors that cannot get the expected payment after a successful contact are routinely embarrassed by the owner and supervisor in front of their peers. In my time there I saw women reduced to tears, and men upset so that they walked out. Bonus is paid, but it is very hard to reach.

This company is so bad that other collectors that work in the area search out new hires and warn them to leave. I am not a disgruntled employee. I am just someone that wants to get the word out about this place, especially to truckers who feel their livelihood is threatened. Don't fall for it!

Also, make sure to send this company a Cease and Desist via certified mail. They WILL contact your friends and relatives! They use references from your application, but they also use a database that provides contact info for your families. They have the collectors make it sound like you are in trouble in order to get you to call.

Collectors in Dallas...stay away from this place!

Truckers and debtors...know your rights!!!! Did I mention they pay the collectors to get debtors to leave positive reviews on Google?

Guest

Then you have Adrian #1 butt-kisser William "Short-Fat Bald guy", oh yeah if you have records that are sealed trust & believe me William will do his best to see why your records was sealed, they did a guy like that last week, set him home, didn't even pay him for orientation.

Sorry in taking so long to get back to you. That much is true there.

There was a young man in the class before me that they let go out with a trainer and back then went and claim they "found something in his background that went unnoticed." Needless to say that he was "disqualified" from employment at Stevens Transport and they still wanted him to pay for everything. I say him in Kansas back at the end of February and he's now happily employed with TransAm. They even gave him a brand new blue Kenworth T-680 with all of the bells and whistles.

They even paid off his tuition and he still networks out of Dallas, Texas to this day. I wish your entire class luck as many of you may be more fortunate than many of us in the forums.

All that attitude. Stevens isn't the one doing it to anyone its the screw UPS they hired to do it for it.i had racists trainers liars that wanted me to stay driving at Stevens catch to that was well you failed until its satisfactory with me and he goes back to sleep .. Trainers with sleep apnea . Wanna be gangsters. People who went to the company and have been there coming from sears store who didn't know how to do jack and are you're right stuck at Stevens talking like I'm his customer at sears . They are pathetic when it comes to driving safely you couldn't imagine how are you telling someone don't do this and the next day wtf your doing.. Stevens didn't send me to their *** school and I'm glad .they gave me a ticket to an accredited school somewhere else and I see what is going on there my school I went to is rated number 3 about in the whole country the majority of people who went to Stevens what they expect as for the trainers is that you went to their *** so called training at their Dallas yard or other places.. And no one realizes how dumb their trainers are working there. I am ashamed that I went there with these trainers who cares though right. Anyway . . . . . . There's alot of other things ...but its a no win situation you'll see that Dallas headquarters is a bunch of bull ...

Don't let them *** you into getting your cdl through them. They will not work with you at all on repayment, even if you ask, and it will go straight to an attorney. There are a few good people working inside but don't trust anything the recruiters or orientation liars throw at you. I would have rather sold a kidney to get my cdl than have to deal with these cheats.

You're so right! You're better getting your CDL through an accredited school than through these ****s.

They lie and if they're lips are moving, then that is truly the case. Sorriest company this side of the Rio Grande.

You'd probably make more money shoveling **** for 14 hours. I'm saying this from personal experience.

Pulled-out in front of me from the side of the road

Tractor #12101/Trailer #14006 Stevens Transport pulled-out from a dead stop from the left side of the road across to my lane on the right. I had to slam on the breaks. This was on highway 12 between Walla Walla and Pasco, Washington (about 6 miles east of the Boise Cascade plant). The speed limit on US 12 is 60 miles per hour. We were traveling at 60 miles per hour with 8 cars behind me. We stop about 4 feet before hitting the side of his trailer. If we had hit the trailer there would have been a 9 car pile-up. This was an extremely dangerous maneuver leaving me to believe the Stevens Transport driver had no regard for anyone but himself.

The management needs to be fired

I was contacted by a recruiter and this is what happened: I have a cdl and 3 yrs exp., I was promised a 3 day course no charge to me other then 100.00 for registration, and that was all and I would get a new truck when I arrived there so don't drive let then pay for my ticket from my home base. They tried to send me via greyhound so I bought my airfare, then they put me in a transient hotel with bedbugs and drug dealers and *** in it. Charged me 315.00 for the hotel, tried to give my 70.00 a week for food that i was going to have to pay back, I refused it. they wanted me to pay 65 dollars for a new physical from their quack doctor. 3 days turned into 3 weeks with people that didn't have any exp. or a cdl. wanted me to pay for numerous medical tests, and wanted me to pay 3600.00 for a training program that was made for people that have never been inside a tractor before. (STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY THEY WILL WAIST YOUR TIME) THEY PAY WAY BELOW NATIONAL AVG. AND WILL PUT BAD MARKS ON YOUR D.A.C. TO *** IF YOU LEAVE. IT TAKES LAWSUIT TO GET IT FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!
