Quality Home

Steven builds a quality home at a reasonable price. His attention to detail is spectacular. I bet the people with negative reviews are the kind of people nobody can please . I would recommend him and point to the fact that he’s built hundreds of homes and I only see a couple of bad reviews. Steven personally inspects each of his subcontractors work and if any discrepancy is found the sub must fixit. His color scemes are excellent and the houses are very energy efficient. If you are looking for a cheap home that hides the imperfections he’s not your builder...but if you want great quality that ends up costing you less in the long run I would highly recommend him....

I believe these two reviews out of many homes built speak for themselves. Several of my neighbors and i love our homes. You can't beat the quality and detail. Steven is very hands on. There's nothing cheap about any of his homes. I believe some people just are impossible to make happy.

You believe some people are impossible to make happy! So in other words the complaints never happened as claimed by other consumers by this builder or are not worthy of complaint in your eyes.

If they took the time to post a complaint, then there is an issue(s). If you bought a brand new car, let's say a Cadillac. As soon as you drove it off the lot you began to have problems with the car. Your dealer turns his back on you and refuses any repairs when you take it back.

Other Cadillac owners "love" their new car and have no problems. I guess you are just impossible to make happy with your problem new Cadillac.

You speak more about cars than homes.

Misleading Builder

We spent three months and paid for a house plan for him to build, but quickly noticed that unless we contacted him we would not hear anything from him. He constantly made excuses every time we had not heard from him as to why he was unable to get back to us. After three months of his excuses and price gouging we cornered him into admitting that he did not "have time" to build our house. I have never heard of a builder not having time to build!! We wasted our time and I would like to warn others before you make the same mistake we did.

Steven Hayes Builder Stay Away

Stay away from this builder he is overpriced and uses low budget subcontractors who do a horrible job. You will end up having all kinds of problems, no one supervises the construction phase and he builds very poor quality homes. If you try to get him to make things you are not happy with better he won't cooperate unless the money to fix his mistakes comes out of your pocket. He is nice until he gets your money and then all bets are off. He DOES NOT stand behind his warranty. Trust me I bought a home from him,HUGE MISTAKE.

I wish we had researched him further before we trusted him to invest our time for him to build for us. We wasted our time, and now we have to start from scratch.

Luckily we did not sign a contract so we are moving on!!

I have to agree with some of your comments (not all, but some). Steven is a nice guy, until you sign on the dotted line.

Then he becomes an ***. Also, very umprofessional. I asked from the very beginning, and several times after, to go with Kristy to pick out the lighting for OUR home. When the time finally came, she didn't let me know she was going.

But the real clincher-she called me at 6:00 pm and said if I wanted to see the lighting I had to meet her at the office by 6:15, because they were going to install the next day. I drive there, it was dark, raining and cold. She parked the truck under a street light in the parking lot and I had to climb in the back of her truck to look at the BOXES with my lights and ceiling fans!!! I was so pissed that I had to leave before I put HER lights out.

Every time I mentioned something to Steven he bit my head off. The appliance budget was so low we pretty much had to pick the cheapest appliances to keep from going over budget. Same with carpet. And one of our biggest complaints, the landscaping was terrible, every bush they planted died.

There are areas in the yard that become small ponds when it rains. We are having to hire professionals to come revamp the entire yard, even the grass didn't grow. With all that being said, we do love our home.

Steven could potentially be a great builder, but he needs to step up his game, hire more professionals (including who works with clients on the selections such as lighting, paint, etc). Looking at my selections in a parking lot under a street light in the dark is far from classy or professional!!
