SDMI forces Medicaid patients to sign a paper making you responsible for payment even when they have the Medicaid prior authorization. Whats even more insane is that the paper has NO DOLLAR AMOUNT on it!!!
Read that again. Youre going to agree to pay for something without knowing if it costs $100 or $9,000. Insane. Scummy.
And should be illegal.
No one in their right mind would sign a blank piece of paper to pay for anything without knowing the price first. NO ONE, especially not the attorneys that created this document. Medicaid guarantees the payment for my visit, and they confirmed that they received my prior authorization from Medicaid, so there is NO need for me to sign anything related to paymentespecially a piece of paper with NO DOLLAR AMOUNT on it.
Whats even more scummy about SDMI is that they purposefully try to hide this clause in a paper that they misrepresent as verifying your information (which is your name and address, etc at the top of the document). And the fact that their staff keeps telling you that you must sign it because its a LEGAL document.
There is nothing that makes that piece of paper a legal document that must be signed (I guess they are all attorneys and know legal terminology).
Its pure nonsenseand a filthy business practice by some non-caring founders.
Doctors arent doctors anymore. They are salespeople controlled by greedy attorneys and management companies.
Well see if our Congressional reps will propose some new laws to stop this horrible practice.
Always know what you're signing, especially with unethical companies that aren't fully transparent upfront.

What are you worried about if Medicaid guarantees payment?
Ahhh, a Guest with no name. My guess is that you work for SDMI.
Let's use your own question the other way, seeing that you're missing the point. If they have the Medicaid authorization in their office that guarantees payment, then WHY do they need me to sign that paper? It's unnecessary and unethical. When was the last time you signed a blank form to guarantee money to anyone?
EVERY business I've ever seen let's you know the price before purchase (or starting work)! And regardless if it's Medicaid or not, NO ONE should be signing a paper guaranteeing payment with no dollar amount on it.
It's called TRANSPARENCY. You should try it.
Thank you Guest 249 995. I must have missed YOUR name on your comment.
Yes, there is a guarantee that day to provide a service. However, as all medical providers have experienced, Medicaid is full of deadbeats and a lot commit fraud when applying for benefits. That signature allows the provider to come after you if Medicaid takes their payment back because you lied on your benefits application.
How sad you think medical providers would risk their six figure income and livelihood to try to falsely bill a deadbeat. There’s a reason a lot of providers do not accept Medicaid.
It's clear you obviously feel elite, and that you like to make assumptions about people you don’t know. Categorizing everyone on Medicaid as a deadbeat makes you sound spectacular; the epitome of racism and hate.
You also have a very selective focus, which is evident from the fact that you quickly resorted to bashing certain groups of people instead of sticking to the subject of my original complaint. People with lame arguments always resort to shifting the focus away from the main points. I’ll keep waiting for you to show me examples of blanks documents you've signed guaranteeing payment for an unknown amount...or examples of businesses that ask you to sign for a service without disclosing the price of that service (or product). It’s really simple, forcing anyone to sign a blank document is unethical.
Period.
Acting like a bully doesn't make you right, it makes you a *** And…seeing that you're such a treasure. I'll make sure I post screenshots of this conversation on numerous other sites so everyone can see how SDMI employees act.
