I had to take Don Gilmore and Shawn Cortner and Steelsmith to court where I prevailed.I experienced the greatest disappointment of my 37 year business life and possibly my entire life when I did business with Steelsmith, Inc. While conducting my due diligence on the company before purchasing my 8, 400 sq.

ft. building the company appeared to have a good product but was lacking in erecting. When I expressed my concern to Shawn Cortner, VP/Sales Manager he assured me that this (erecting) "is what they do best" and "they would really shine" in this area. He promised to send me a highly experienced crew that would complete my "small project" in 4-6 weeks depending on the weather.

Shortly after the crew arrived major problems began to develop. The 28 year old foreman confessed to me this was his first job and that he assembled his crew from Criag's list and they had zero building experience! After 3 months I had to let them go and hire a local crew to finish and correct all their mistakes. The building immediately leaked and still does to this day.

Therefore today I have a brand new $600, 000 Corle building on a $1, 000, 000 property that leaks! All thanks to Steelsmith, Inc. Four more issues concerning Steelsmith Inc. Before I paid my down deposit Shawn was calling me everyday and sometimes twice a day.

As soon as I paid my deposit and signed the contract he quit calling and would not return my calls. It was like I didn't exist once he got my money. Also there were numerous delays in getting the engineering plans which stalled the entire project. When attempting to be compensated for Steelsmith's many business mistakes I dealt directly with the president, Don Gilmore, and gave him numerous opportunities to "make things right." He also ignored me and ultimately I had to take him and Steelsmith to court where I prevailed.

The final issue is another one that involves integrity. Steelsmith presents themselves as a manufacturer when in fact they are only brokers for Corle Building Systems and others.

My advise to everyone is to avoid the severe disappointment and heartache I experienced and deal directly with the building manufacturers! There is no service that Steelsmith can provide that the manufacturers can not.

I immediately contacted my credit card company and discovered that I had indeed been charged several thousand dollars. This is FRAUD!

Criminals! I completed an online form on the steel smith website steelsmithinc.com in order to download information.

Several days later I was contacted by phone (near the end of the work-day). RED FLAG! The sales pitch went like this: steelsmith is a wholesale company that typically sells to retailers only. But today they are doing things a little differently.

I was told that a local retailer in my area had recently shut down causing steelsmith inc to have to liquidate approximately 100 pre-engineered buildings at discounted wholesale prices in a matter of weeks before the end of the year in preparation for a large steel order. But I had to act fast since there were only a few select buildings left, and if they had one available that met my requirements (codes), it could be offered to me at 50% off the regular price. RED FLAG AGAIN! To my surprise, they just happened to have one that would work for me.

I told the sales rep that it appeared to be a good deal, but I don't make deals like this quickly, so I would have to get back to him. He told me that the building would not be available if I waited until after the new year because anything that remained unsold at the end of the year would be auctioned, but if I signed an agreement to hold the building today, it would ensure that the building remained in the warehouse without an obligation to buy. I agreed against my better judgment. The form I was sent included a section of fine print that was so small and blurred I couldn't read it.

ANOTHER RED FLAG! I also noted that the form requested credit card information. So, I called the sales rep back and told him I wasn't signing the document without being able to read the fine print, and asked why he needed my credit card information if he was just holding the building for me. He replied saying that it's just company policy, but that my card would not be charged.

So he sent me another form with the section of fine print completely eliminated; he never did tell me what it said. After the first of the year I received building plans and sketches in the mail. I called steelsmith again 866-603-**** to find out why I had received diagrams for a building that I had not submitted plans for, since I had not committed to purchasing the building. I was told that they were generic plans meant to give me an idea of what the building design would be like, and once I submitted my plans and signed a purchase agreement, I would be sent more specific diagrams for the building.

Wait what? After doing some research, I discovered that Steelsmith, INC in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania had a history of bad business practices and found many complaints of unethical methods and pressure sales tactics very similar to what I experienced. After a couple of days, steel smith called asking me to submit detailed plans for the building, to which I replied that I had decided not purchase a building at this time. After a few minutes of manipulative conversation that was going nowhere, he told me I would be responsible for the deposit that I had initially paid.

I told him I had not paid a deposit. He insisted that I had, and faxed me a purchase agreement including a non-refundable deposit that did not exist on the original form, and the section of fine print that was omitted on the original form I signed to hold the building. And guess what the fine print said, "Upon cancellation of order, Buyer and Seller both agree that 50% of the total price equates to probable damages suffered by seller, and shall be paid by buyer to seller immediately after cancellation of order." I immediately contacted my credit card company and discovered that I had indeed been charged several thousand dollars. This is FRAUD!

I disputed the charge with the credit card company, and now they've hired a collection agency to come after me for a deposit I did not agree to, on a building that I did not order, cancel, or receive. This company should be sued and put out of business and the owners/employees should have criminal charges filed against them. Stay away from steelsmith inc and all of their affiliates! They are the ones located at 1216 LL Grandview Ave Pittsburgh PA 15211.

I believe this company is owned by Donald Gilmore. The Pennsylvania Secretary of State has them listed as a foreign corporation entity number 435**** but no other information listed which does not surprise me!

This company Steel Smith Inc are criminal. I see my situation as a con just like everyone else.

I lost my deposit as well. This has been burning me up inside. Every time I see one of their very misleading commercials my blood pressure goes up. I sent my deposit thinking I was simply securing the good deal they were offering with no commitment, for buildings long in inventory that they would like to sell.

This was clearly expressed over the phone by the sales persons, I arrived home only to find out when I got home the document they sent to my wife for signature because I was travelling stated the deposit was not refundable. At that time I thought I may as well proceed rather then lose my deposit, but in the end the cost was very high it wasn't the building it was claimed to be and nowhere near the great price they implied. If this were the old west that sales manager would be buried too his neck in sand, but it's not. It's the modern era of deception and fraud.

DON'T FALL FOR THIS They don't need to sell any buildings to be profitable they just need to continue ripping everyone off for their deposits for the cost of a few phone calls. I also had contacted them previously just to get more information. They cold called me, the price was thought to be very good and seemed worth the deposit to secure the price. As stated I was travelling across the country at the time and soon needed to board the plane.

I ASKED THEM TO CALL BACK IN A FEW DAYS OR I WOULD CALL THEM, THEN THE SALES MANAGER PHONED WITH THE BIGGER SALES PITCH AND THE BIG GUARENTEE. Thinking !!! as stated no commitment was required I had the money wired. When I returned home and started conversing with the sales office I soon realized this was no deal at all and when all was said and done this building was much more expensive than others, not to mention concerns over structural strength due to our snow load.

After careful consideration and lots of homework I decided to cancel the order, only to be informed that my deposit was non refundable. THE ODD THING THOUGH, THE YOUNG FELLOW WHO ORIGINALLY CALLED WHO WAS POLITELY TRYING TO PURSUAD ME - WAS NO LONGER WORKING THERE WHEN I PHONED THE NEXT DAY TO ENSURE I DIDN'T GET RIPPED OFF BY A CON MAN - NOT KNOWING I REALLY DID JUST DIDN'T KNOW IT YET. These guys are deceptive liars with no integrity. So if you’re looking for a building look elsewhere.

AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THIS COMPANY HAS NO BUSINESS BEING IN BUSINESS. THEY'RE NO BETTER THEN THE SCAM ARTISTS WE HEAR OF IN THE NEWS EACH AND EVERY DAY.

(PERSONALLY, IT'S TIME WE COLLECTIVELY SUIT THEM) THEIR NOT THE SCAM ARTISTS NO ONE CAN FIND WE KNOW WHERE THEY ARE BUT SEEMINGLY THEY ARE UNTOUCHABLE. They are located at 1216 Grandview Ave Pittsburg PA 15211 and owed by Donald Gilmore 866-603-**** 412-904-**** steelsmithinc.com You should be wary of the fake reviews!
