St Marks Taylorsville Emergency Center
Obscene charges for emergency health care
I visited this facility for an illness I wasn't able to recover from and because my temperature had soared so high I felt it was an emergency.
They were very fast in getting me in and working me over but no one asked what I thought caused the problem. (I began the illness after eating at a restaurant so suspected it had something to do with that). I was in no shape to think clearly, so wished I had brought in a friend or family member to help guide my care.
They did every procedure known to man I think, and still I left with no answers. I was just told it was probably some kind of virus so to "drink plenty of fluids" and "get rest". Two days later I received a call from them telling me another blood lab test result had confirmed I had an E. Coli infection, and I needed to take a certain kind of antibiotic to get rid of it. Then it all cleared up but it took some time.
My issue with them is the billing. Not only did they charge me for things they didn't do (which I disputed and had taken off the bill), but they came up with a whopping charge of $9,403!!
I did some research with Health Care Blue Book and FairHealthConsumer.org and came up with a total of $1,870 as a fair charge for all of the procedures based on my location.
They did remove approximately $1200 of the charges after I disputed, but this place still is one place I'll NEVER go to again.
