Claim denial

I have lived in my home in Florida for 5 years and I am on my third insurance company. The first two dropped us for things out of our control, like roof damage from a hurricane.

Needless to say I did research prior to getting our current insurance and St. Johns Insurance seemed to have a good reputation, so good, that we have been paying more than we would have with other options. So we expected great service when we called to make a roof damage claim due to a hail storm. The adjuster came with an independent inspector but obviously was not independent as St.

Johns paid for this person. They then sent us a denial letter stating that our roof is marred and therefore not truly damaged. They also refused to give us a copy of the inspectors report claiming work product privilege. Thats a lie.

As for having a marred roof, this may allow for water damage, if not immediately, then in the near future. And if we should, at some point, have water damage and submit a claim, theres no doubt it will be denied because the roof was already damaged (but obviously not damaged enough right now). So St. Johns Insurance should replace our roof and do what we pay them to do.

It is incredibly infuriating that insurance companies are unregulated and get to do anything they want. Dont be in the insurance field, especially in Florida, if you wont cover claims and do your damn job.
