St Francis Veterinary Hospital - Pet Medical Service Review from Glendale, California
I took my diabetic dog to this business for weekend boarding. I was clear of the insulin dose and saw that it was recorded accurately.
I received a call the next day that our dog had been given 31/2 times her normal dose and was transferred to the ICU. We returned home early to be there for our pet. Our dog had to put down three dad later. Our dog was old and had other medical issues as was pointed out by the vet repeatedly but the insulin overdose caused her death.
On top of this horrible error we were treated as if we had done something to offend them and after a couple of days care we were told any further care would have to be paid for up front. They wouldn't even provide oxygen to a dog stughling to breath while we discussed our options. They made the mistake and wanted us to pay for care. We pick up our dog and went to our normal vet and ultimately had to make a very hard decision.
There is no recourse when a vet makes a mistake like this and this clinic certainly knows this. I would recommend avoiding this business.
Emergency room visit
Just acouple nights ago my son yelled out at me in a panic saying that his cat is panting, salvating, and cant move his back legs. We rushed him to St.
Francis and they took him back right away and took his vitals. They found that his body temperature dropped and he had no real pulse in his legs. The Dr explained that the cat has classic signs of a Thrombosis and the prognosis was not good. They gave the option to euthanize or start him on IV with blood thinners, prednisone and etc.
My sons cat was in alot of pain because he was not getting the proper blood flow to his legs and he was suffering. My son chose to go ahead and put his cat on the treatment. Immediately they needed an $800 deposit before they did anything. I explained I had $300 and my husbands check would be available in the morning by electronic deposit and I can give the rest then.
They refused. We were there from 10 pm to 2:00 am and they could not even administer a a pain killer to our beloved cat. My son was heartbroken. We had no choice but to euthanize.
My son got to experience extreme cruelty and non compassion from these people because of money. I will never forget how they watched my son cry hysterically begging to save his beloved best friend and they didnt care. My son is so distraught after watching his cat die in his arms. Being a a parent it his hard watching my son suffer like this.
Our hearts are broken because of these heartless, money hungry people. They need there licenses taken away from them for animal cruelty. Just know St. Francis hospital you had the choice to treat our beloved cat and you chose to kill him and you made my son watch the heartlessness.
If you love your pet stay far away from these people.
St. Francis Veterinary Hospital in Vancouver, WA is not even for the birds!
When I came in on an emergency for my dying dog, there was no veterinarian in sight. The rushed my dog to the examination table, and then they immediately started asking for money.
They told me in order to save him, it would cost $2000. I knew he was too far gone to even be saved, so I ended up having him euthanized. Very sad. Without a beat they asked for $240 just to have him euthanized.
Again, no vet was to be seen. I asked for a copy of the vet notes, and I had to pick it up three weeks later. I think it was "doctored" up, so to speak, and the signature was faked.
As far as I could tell, they didn't do anything in the examination room at all until my dog was euthanized. Please do not patronize this fraudulent and uncaring facility.
