They scam their customers and unnecessary and unauthorized repairs.

I took my 2004 Honda Metro 49cc into have new tires put on. That was it.

I was quoted $35 each tire to install only. I went in another time to purchase tires with the intention of switching them out myself. No one ever had worked on scooter except me in all the years I've owned it. When I was switching out the tires, I decided I wanted a more roughed tire instead.

So I went back to Sportique. I ended up spending close to an hour talking to a sales rep. We just clicked (at least that's what I thought, but he was just working me). We talked all about our love for scooters and I told him in detail, how I was the only one that ever worked on my scooter.

He made me feel comfortable enough to trust them with my pride and joy. I was in the middle of a move and started a new job so life was a little crazy and needed the tires switched out yesterday. So I called him and took it in. When dropping it off, I stressed they were to only replace the new tires I had put on with the rugged ones I had previously bought.

Both sets I had purchased from them and I wanted the set they were taking off because they were brand new. That was it. I didn't want anything else done. Well 1.5 days later I get a text from the "mechanic" who worked on my scooter.

He was letting me know that my scooter was ready and that he had rebuilt the transmission (his words), replaced the battery and put on the new tires and that my total was $546.00. Keep in mind I was quoted $70 for both tires. I went down there immediately and spoke with the manager. I was very upset but kept calm.

I asked him to show me the transmission they said had to be replaced, he couldn't. I asked him to show me where I signed agreeing to the additional work, he couldn't. I asked him to show me notes where they called me ahead to get a verbal consent to do the additional work, he couldn't. I asked him to look to see how many times I had had my scooter there, he verified it had never been seen by them.

I also asked him for the battery they claimed was dead so i could return it as it was new and I asked for the other set of new tires they took off as I had paid for them and were brand new. He didn't me the battery or the tires. I asked him for any proof at all that would justify them doing work that was not needed, he could not. That's because there was nothing wrong with my scooter.

I explained that there was not one thing wrong with my scooter and that the work they did was completely unnecessary and not authorized. My scooter is my property and they had absolutely no right to do anything to it without speaking to me first and getting my authorization. I had just bought the battery they said was bad so I know it didn't need a new one and it drove like a dream. The managers response to me was, keep in mind he wouldn't look at me the entire time.

He stared at the computer screen the entire time. He said, "we do what needs to be done to make the scooters run." I advised him again that it was running fine. It only needed the tires switched out. He said "I don't know what to tell you.

We don't ever ask the customers before doing any additional work. We just do it and they are happy." To which I replied, "well I'm not happy and I'm not the average customer that doesn't know how to work on scooters. I do all the work on all my scooters." I asked him what he was goibg to do about it and he told me nothing could be done and if i wanted my scooter back I would have to pay or they keep it and resale it to cover their cost. I know that when becoming a machanic you learn right away to never do anything without talking to the customer first and going over the price.

Not getting anywhere and I wanted my scooter so I had to pay it. However, I shouldn't have because they ruined my scooter. It has never driven the same and now it just sits in my garage. It has no power at take off, like I push it with my feet to get it going.

It doesn't hold speed uphill and dies out and they didn't reinstall the kickstand locking lever so it only locks at the handlebars now. I've looked for a replacement but have yet to find one. So I don't drive it anymore because of its poor performance and afraid it will be stolen. It is extremely upsetting as I LOVED my scooter and drove it all the time in good weather.

I am the only owner of it and took a lot of pride in being able to do any repairs and all upkeep on it over the years. They ruined my scooter.

If you need something done to your scooter, Youtube what needs to be done and do it yourself. You will save so much money.

Oh and to touch on the rebuilding of the transmission that the "mechanic" said had to be done. That alone is a load of crap because you don't rebuild a transmission on a 49cc scooter.

What you do is clean the carburetor. It doesn't even have a transmission to rebuild. You take out the carburetor and make sure the gas pin is moving freely and that dirt hasn't gotten into the gas intake chamber. You can test this by blowing carb fluid threw gas and air intake.

Put it back together, put in a new air filter and it should fire back up. The number one thing that will bog down or stall out a scooter is dirt or dust in the carburetor. It takes about 30 mins to do this and costs maybe $20 if you replace the air filter. AGAIN, SPORTIQUE SCOOTERS ON BROADWAY IN DENVER, CO IS A JOKE AND THEY SCAM THEIR CUSTOMERS.

They overcharge for work they don't have auth to do. They will keep and resale your property if yoy refuse to pay.
