Spire needs to be thrown out of Missouri
Here we go again! Saturday morning a robocall comes in from MGE/ SPIRE from a fake phone #. They tell me my bill is past due. Ok I can accept that. I had spoken with them on Wednesday and reported that their meter was not working. I have no pilot lights on my furnace and an electric water heater - therefore I can not be using any gas even though their meter reading shows I used 37 units. They agree to come out and re=read the meter and change it out for a new one. Then I go ahead and send in a payment for more that my bill. Ok - so now they call me hiding their identity. the robot asks if its me - I say yes. they then tell me if I don't pay my bill by YESTERDAY they will disconnect my service. I am told I can take care of it now to push 1 - I do so and am told I will need to talk to a rep and none are available except Monday thru Friday I am next told I can take care of any questions online. so I go online. no one there to chat with and no way to take care of their mistakes until Monday when I'm at work. MGW NEEDS TO GET THROWN OUT OF MISSOURI AS THEY ARE SO NON-USER FRIENDLY AND ALL THEY DO IS HARRASS. BUT WHAT CAN ONE DO? NOTHING AS THEY HAVE THE ONLY SERVICE IN THE AREA. what ever happened to free trade and all companies must have competition to keep them in check?

As of today 7/8/2018 they still have not sent me the promised billing information they "Guaranteed" I would have it within 5-7 days Says a lot about the value of their guarantees
Original review posted by user Jun 06, 2018EVER SINCE MGE BECAME SPIRE THEY HAVE MESSED UP MY BILLING. I USED TO NEVER HAVE ANY ISSUES. SINCE THE NAME CHANGE THEY HAVE SPLIT MY SINGLE BILL INTO THREE BILLS. SOME MONTHS I GET THEM OTHER MONTHS I DON'T. ONE ACCOUNT THE NEVER SENT A BILL AND SINCE IT WAS NOT PAID THEY TRANSFERRED THE ACCOUNT TO ONE OF MY OTHER ACCOUNTS WITHOUT ANY REASON OR NOTE STATING WHAT OR WHERE THIS AMOUNT CAME FROM. WHEN I CALLED IN I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD SEND COPIES OF ALL OF THE BILLS - FAT LOT OF GOOD THAT DOES ME. THEY HAVE ALREADY ADDED INTEREST AND PENALTIES FOR A SMALL UNPAID BALANCE. ONE ANOTHER ACCOUNT (THAT WAS ALWAYS PART OF THE ORIGINAL BILL FOR ALL THREE LOCATIONS) THEY ARE CHARGING ME STATING THAT I HAVE USED AS MUCH GAS IN MAY AS I USED IN FEBRUARY! WHEN I EXPLAINED THAT I HAVE AN ELECTRIC WATER TANK AND THE FURNACE HAS NO PILOT LIGHT THEREFORE NO USE, THEY SAID THEY WOULD COME CHECK THE METER AND IF THEY DECIDE IT IS LEAKING THEY WILL REPLACE - NO ADJUSTMENT FOR THE INCORRECT BILL. WHEN THE COMPANY SPLIT MY BILL INTO THREE THEY "GUARANTEED" ME THAT I WOULD NEVER HAVE ANY TROUBLES WITH THEIR BILLING. IN 6 MONTHS I HAVE HAD (ACCORDING TO THEM) THREE BILLS NEVER RECEIVED, TWO BILLS CHARGING ME FOR GAS I HAVE NEVER USED, AND ALL THEY CAN SAY IS "SIR, THIS IS ALL I AM ALLOWED TO DO" I HATE THAT ALL ANYONE HAS IN ONE OPTION FOR UTILITIES AND THEREFORE ALL WE CAN DO IS *** AND BEND OVER AND PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKES IF I HAD ANY POWER I WOULD FIRE THE LOT OF THEM AND ALLOW FOR COMPETITION IN ALL UTILITIES THROUGHOUT THE USA
