Rental property and return of security deposit

The house was an older home, had a lot of issues with the bathtub not draining, the sinks in the kitchen not draining. I lived there a year, paid the $1300 security deposit. I had to call for repairs numerous times for the bathtub but it was never resolved, I couldn't even use the bathtub, I had to go to the opposite end of the house to use the shower. The internet came and went (I work from home), mediacom refused to work on it because the house wasn't grounded, which also never got resolved. I was told I had to show proof that I got the carpets professional cleaned, which I did. So needless to say, when I got the breakdown of how much of my deposit I was going to get back, I was speechless! They charged me $386 to deep clean the house, charged me over $118 for chewed on blinds, that were there in the house before I moved in, I didn't even have an animal. Charged me $135 to rekey the house, which the doors were redone so many times you couldn't even lock the house to begin with. So out of my $1300 deposit I was getting back $597. So stay away from Southern Residential Leasing!

User's recommendation: Don't rent from these people unless you have money to throw away.

Front steps rotten and collapsing, parts of back deck rotten and unusable, refrigerator not functioning, ventilation system spewing poison that is making me so sick I can’t function, sewer gas exudes from pipes into house-smell wakes me up and makes me sick, windows- no screens, if opened they fall out, bedroom window completely out and falling into bedroom, etc., etc., etc...

Southern Residential Leasing, Destin, Florida (DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM)

This is the worst leasing agent I have ever done business with. They charge $150 for every day you are late on your rent without any grace period. What is ironic about that, is that they don't take your time seriously at all and have no problem wasting your time. It takes a few days for their agents to get back to me and sometimes they don't respond at all. Furthermore, they hire unprofessional contractors to do home repairs. I was stood up on three different occasions for which I had to miss work each time. I am baffled by the lack of professionalism on this company's behalf. I will never ever do business with this company ever again and discourage anyone else from doing so as well.
