For-Profit Hospital!!

Unfortunately, late one afternoon my husband had a medical emergency which required hospitalization. After hours in the emergency department, he was finally placed in a small cramped room on the orthopedic unit. Let me clarify that his medical condition had absolutely nothing to do with an orthopedic complaint. Our main concern, with South Baldwin Regional Medical Center is the safety of every patient in that hospital, due to lack of staffing!! One morning, my husband had to wait an unusual amount of time for assistance to the restroom. Upon inquiring, his nurse explained to us that they were working that particular day without a nurses assistant and secretary due to a very low patient census. He was not offered bath care that particular day nor was his bedding changed. Several days later, when asked the nursing assistant told my husband she had 15 patient that day. Every nurse and nursing assistant my husband had was polite and hard working . . . always smiling even thought they were working short staffed and in such a stressful environment. OBVIOUSLY, UPPER MANAGEMENT AT SOUTH BALDWIN REGIONAL CENTER IS MORE CONCERNED ABOUT MAKING A DOLLAR, THAN THE SAFETY OF THEIR PATIENTS AND EMPLOYEES!! I am sure it is a issue of money, the cafeteria hours were not at all accommodating to patient's family and friends.
