Soulhatter

SoulHatter's website shows numerous good-looking cowboy hats in classic styles and profiles with quality hatbands. The prices are about a third of what you might expect to pay for a well-made wool felt cowboy hat in the US, so I foolishly took a chance and ordered one.

I was naively reassured because the Soulhatter website clearly advertises 30-day Free Returns on the top of the home page, and under the hat description, the site again advertises Free Returns.

In the Soulhatter policies, the language reads as follows:

MONEY BACK GUARANTEE: If your item is damaged or defective within 30 days of use, we will gladly replace or refund it.

None of which is true as I quickly found out after receiving the so-called hat.

It took a while for any order confirmation to come through after I placed the order but eventually one did, but only with a non-working tracking number. After a few weeks, I made multiple inquiries about my order status with no response.

An unbranded box from UPS arrived three weeks later that was so light I thought it was empty. It had a return address from "SARAH" in Illinois which I looked up on Google Maps and found was an Osco Drug store in a shopping mall.

When I opened it I found a squashed, paper-thin incredibly cheap knockoff of the hat pictured on Soulhatter's website. The best way to describe it may be to picture a child's toy cowboy hat from the 1960s, pressed into shape by a machine.

The so-called "leather hatband" looks like colored cardboard.

Do not order anything from this company! Please also be aware this same outfit runs multiple websites on all social media channels with the same knockoff products.

When I tried to return this piece of junk, I sent them pictures of the crushed toy hat in the box with the shipping label and my order information. I was informed the best they could do was an $11 discount off my original order of 56+ dollars, or I was welcome to ship the hat back to this address in mainland China at my own expense:

Instead, I contacted my credit card company and explained my purchase with Soulhatter based on fraudulent advertising.

They thankfully agreed to stop payment and open a dispute. I will be sending them all of this information as well.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME ORDERING ANYTHING FROM ANY OF THESE CHINESE RIP-OFF WEBSITES.
