5-year Warranty

We purchased a couch, loveseat, chair and ottoman from Sofa Express while the store was going out of business in Charlotte 5 years ago. We paid $2660 for the set and $199 for a 5-year Warranty for the set.

The furniture has not held up at all. The leather is worn and flaking. I called to see how the warranty works and they (MultiMaster) said Sofa Express is no longer one of the companies they work with so the warranty is no longer valid.

Why did Sofa Express sell me a $200 warranty if they knew they were going out of business? I am not happy!

We bought our Natuzzi furniture from Sofa Express: two strikes against us. First Sofa Express went belly up and secondly our sofa from Natuzzi is junk.

The "leather" on the seat cushions of our sofa has cracked. All the recommended care instructions, treatments and cleaning was followed as stated in the "piece of paper" warranty. I would not recommend Natuzzi to anyone unless they can afford disposable furniture. The quality of Natuzzi fine leather products sucks.

They do not stand behind their products, another foreign country selling their wares to naive Americans.

I say we buy American. I've learned.

Klaussner purchased Sofa Express, changed the name to "Sofa Express & More,"and ousted the old personnel, in order to use it as an outlet for their product. Having closed SE, they are now peddling their wares at various furniture locations around the city.

Any warranty issues can be addressed through the factory via their phone lines and website.

Frontroom is run by the folks who built Sofa Express when it was a reputable company. FrontroomFurnishings does not now, nor did it ever sell Klaussner products.

I worked for years in furniture sales. My parents owned a "Mom and Pop" furniture store for a long time.

Natuzzi is the standard by which junk is measured. Cardboard frames, split (cheap) leather like you'd find on inexpensive gloves, poor stitching, etc.

I won't buy at any store that even carries that brand. If they stock it, they don't plan on standind behind anything.

Gave me the furnature advertising sausage !

After reading "couch potatoes" blog and everything else about Sofa express, I wouldn't buy a pillow or a foot stool for MY DOG from Front Room Furniture or Sofa Express. People like this obviously prey on instant sales without reguard to the obligations of good business practices after the sale.

It's AMAZING that one attractive blonde and her mother can reel in so many suckers!! I THOGHT FRED RICART WAS DEALING!!, He can't hold a candle to these two BIMBO'S. I am already so leary of buying anything from FRF.

I'm ready ready to build my own foot stool, for my DOG!!!. Plus- NO CHARGE FOR DELIVERY!!!!

the purchase a sofa with a lifetime warranty from sofa express. the service tech arrived after a weeks time and started asking me probing questions, like have what have you been doing on this couch and have you been jumping on the couch because this type of damage could not be done from normal sitting.

He gave a price tag, Companies don't like doing warranties this is a scheme thats done to extract new money. The Lifetime warranty is nothing but a sales gimmick they don't ever want you to use it.

Sofa express can not be reached to honor my warranty

I purchased a chair and couch in February 2006. The chair has broke in two places and the seat is torn on both sides.

When I try to reach anyone It is without success. We paid over 1800 dollars for this trash. Someone needs to be held responsible for this false advertisement and for the warranties not honored. I am a disabled cancer patient and it isn't like I can just through money out the door.

If the company new they were going to file bankruptcy they should have put it in writing and not offer warranties and service plans they knew they could not follow through on.

I have worked in this industry for many years. Everyone is correct.

The same FAMILY that owned sofa express. Now owns frontroom furnishings. I worked for both. Service is a very difficult part of any furniture store.

The problem is sofa express changed hands so many times that it would be a nightmare to get anything fixed. As far as front room appearantly if you had a problem you need to go to the corporate office to complain.

Then maybe you will be heard. Zane trace drive columbus ohio....

I am pissed off because I purchased a Couch and chair from them, but now that I need them I am out of luck. The customers always get screwed

For everyone making claims about SofaExpress, your all pretty much out of luck. Most of your concerns wouldnt have been properly taken care of even if they had remained opened so don't feel too bad about them closing. All your remarks about extended warranties would have been picked apart with a fine tooth comb and only 15% of them would have had any resolution. This being the number one reason why they closed I have no doubt.

Primarily I know all this because I was management with this company up until about a year before they closed. Dont think I got out because I saw the red light flashing... I was only lucky after putting up with them from the inside for 5 years when I had the opportunity to move.

You might be able to call a Mom&Pop retailer in your area with a service-tech that does work on the side in order to get some of your problems resolved. Klaussner still makes furniture (I think they are in the top 5 largest upholsterers in the world right now.. but might soon be going bankrupt too... hint hint.)

When a company like this files chapter 11 they sell off as much inventory as possible first and then announce they are closing... disapearing quickly so as to not have to deal with all the angry customers lurking in the shadows. And as SofaExpress was a corporation they filed bankruptcy in a way that would allow them to reopen at some time during the future under the same or a different name but in this market Im sure it wont be too soon.

Sofa Express started as a great company with a good plan and just got to big for its britches.

Sofa Express is unreachable to replace the handle for sofa.

Last year, at tax return time (April), I decided to purchase a new sofa. My old one was about 15 years old, and it sagged terribly.

I went to Sofa Express to find a new one. I purchased a 3-piece sectional with recliners in two pieces, the couch and the love seat portions of the sectional. My couch (3 pc. sectional) now is barely a year old.

The handle to pull out the footrest/recliner broke, after less than a dozen uses. What to I do to get it repaired? Sofa Express should be ashamed and held responsible for selling below-quality merchandise at above-quality prices! I've tried all the phone numbers listed, all having been disconnected.

Who will be held responsible for repairs, since I paid for a lifetime warranty, in addition to the scotchguard treatments?

Need Repair

I to am a victim of Sofa Express! I have the reclining sofa and loveseat with cables that keep breaking.

I get a recorded message saying the mailbox is not monitored and not to leave a message.

If someone could just tell me who or where I can buy the cables so we can use the recliners, I will replace them myself.

If the company had sent letters notifying there customers of their pending Chapter 11, I could have just asked them where we could call to get service or the parts needed to fix the problem ourselves.

I don't think that is too much to ask for!!

They did nothing right

Sofa Mart and its partner Oak Express have no idea how to order and deliver what the customer wants. I received the wrong piece from Oak Express and have to wait another week for replacement.

Sofa Mart is worse. They ordered and shipped a sofa I ordered a love seat. They shipped the sofa and it arrived in the wrong color as well. Getting the right piece would take as much as 2 weeks more.

I have no furniture it sit on. I requested full refund I will not do business with them... ever!!!!!!

The sales people were not even remotely interested in fixing this to my satisfaction.

No surprise. I ordered a desk set (desk, computer base, file cabinet), went to go pick them up yesterday and was informed that the file cabinet wouldn't be in until MID JANUARY!!!

(I ordered end of Oct). Redic! This is the 21st Century!!! Nearly 3 months to get a piece of furniture in stock?

The salesman lied to me and madei t sound like it'd be in stock soon...just to make a sale.

Joke's on him, I'm going back for a refund later today. Jerkbags.

Sofa

I bought a leather couch with chair for 4,000.00. This was three years ago.

I live alone and take good care of my furniture. The sofa structure broke in two pieces. I cannot get a reply for the warranty. By the way I am 115 pounds.

The worst sofa I ever owned. Sofa Express should close the doors. Product number is ldb43800. Manufacture is sealy.

I purchased this at the Columbus, Ohio store and when it was delivered to my home it was already broken. The company sent a service call to fix it. I should have told them to keep it.

The couch is now broken in two different places.

Poor poor customer services

I also have had a bad experience with there cushions had them replaces once and also had to buy stuffing. the scott guard that cost 80.00 dollars is making it so hard you don't want to set on it.

also it looks like water rings all over it.

who ever owns this company needs to get up off their butts and take care of there customers and firer there management. I myself being in management wonder how you stay in business I will tell everyone not to shop there and I talk to hundreds of people on a weekly base and believe for everyone person you tell they will tell twenty others.

I have also (lets structure this properly) had a bad experience with there cushions, (commas are used to put breaks inside a longer sentence) and had to have them replaced once and buy stuffing. (this isn't a list, you only need to define a second point with and) The Scott Guard (name of a product, capitalized, capitalist the first letter of the first word)that cost 80.00 dollars is making it so stiff (use a better descriptive word, thesauruss' are about 5 dollars or so at Barnes and Noble) you don't want to sit (I don't have a clue what the *** this is, but fixed) on it.

Also (capitalize) it looks like water rings formed all over it. Who (capitalize) ever owns this company needs to get up off their butts and take care of there customers and fire (firer? didn't know their was a past tense of this word spelled this way, i think fired is what you were thinking. doesn't matted, the action form of fire is what it should be) their (there - they are… fail) management.

I myself being in management (REALLY??? KFC?) and I wonder how you stay in business, I will tell everyone not to shop here (you are actively describing the company, here is proper. there - they are… can't fix ***?) and I talk to hundreds of people on a weekly basis (unless your somehow talking about a base, in which case this would make no sense, you meant basis. Yea, they mean different things.

Also, didn't know you passed statistics, yet your using a very accurate statement) and I (you've described three things with yourself as the center, lets keep that going) believe for everyone person (I feel I should leave this one in here, so that maybe, just maybe you'll see your own stupidity.) You tell they will tell twenty others. 86f69e (WHAT?)

As end notes, you can't write a simple complaint with elementary grade grammar and structure. ***, I doubt you can even talk straight without stuttering or flat out screwing up. It is very unlikely you talk to hundreds of people, maybe you meet them but it seems talking wouldn't be your strong suit.

Also, on a side note, Scott Guard isn't for cushions, which is actually stated explicitly on the back of the cans.

They sell two types of product, a polyurethane and a latex based water proofing spray. Both would not work for something like a couch, their is a reason they put interactions and specifics on the back of the cans and boxes of store bought products.

My first time using this service I wish I never have to use it again. On March 30, 2011, I listed an SUV to be picked up from Berlin, MD and delivered to Fort Lauderdale, FL.

I contracted with (Four Guys Shipping) Great Shipping and paid $225 deposit after paying the initial $99.62 to pick up the SUV on April 10, 2011. On April 11, 2011 I spoke with Renee Wilson and he told me that was his mistake instead of putting the 10th, he put 17th for the SUV to be picked up by his driver. After the 17th, Mr Wilson called me a day later on the 18th and said his driver should pick up the SUV anytime and he will notify me when it is picked up. I call numerous time only to listen to answering machine.

On the 20th of April 2011, I finally got Mr Wilson and he told me the SUV does not start his driver went there could not pick it up and would have to go back with equipment to pick it up.

Now I calling since then to communicate with Mr Wilson and only get answering machine. The seller now is pressuring me saying that the city is going to fine him, the home association is going to fine him, ect...I calling Mr Wilson over and over to communicate that to him and I only get answering machine....I don\'t know what to do now.

Come on man, what company do you manage? You don't even have a basic understanding of tenses, punctuation, or the difference between their, there and they're.

How could anyone take this post or, by extension, you seriously?

Keep fighting the good fight though. You really stick it to that sofa company.

Guest

I purchased a sofa and two chairs from Sofa express three years ago and have not had that first problem with any of the pieces.. I had them scotch guard it and I've had no problems with stains or anything else.

Guess these items like everything can only take so much abuse.... :roll

Sofa Express Renigs On Extended Service Contract After Closing Its Doors

After purchasing my first home, I decided that it would be nice to treat myself to a new living room and dining room set. Living on a limited budget (as most of us do) I found Sofa Express to be reasonably priced, with products that were fairly constructed.

During this purchase I was given the oportunity to buy the extended warranty contract. Normally, I would decline on such an offer, but being that the furniture was light in color, pourus, and the warranty included fabric protection, with a 100% replacement or money back gift coupon at the end of the warranty, it was a no brainer. That is until the company went under and took off with my rebate cash! After many calls to unworking phone numbers, I finally reached someone who basically stated that "Master Seal" (the company that Sofa Express used for fabric protection) would send someone out to clean the furniture if necesary. How about the rebate cash?

Or the pillow and cushion replacement I was promised? Or... How about a class action lawsuit to hold this company accountable?

No wonder consumer confidence is at an all time low. No pride, and no acountability!

unable to locate a working number to use

This is very unprofessional and poor-customer service.

I purchased a sofa bed from Sofa Express almost a year ago. My cushions are in bad shape, it looks as if they just folded up cushions and threw them in.

The zippers don't work and I'm embarrassed to have the sofa in my house.

I have no idea who to contact since none of the numbers work. Does anyone have a number that might help me reach someone??

Guest

Oh my God, the spelling here is terrifying.

Guest

I also purchased a 3-piece leather sofa and the extended warranty, which included free cleaner and polisher for the life of the furniture and also replacement for the life of the furniture. However, now I am also out of luck with the closing of Sofa Express.

They told me I could call the manufacturer, which I did and was told that I could buy the cleaner kit for $29.95. What a rip-off!!!

Delivery problem

I placed an order for living room furniture and a dining room set on May 27th, apparently they did not have them in stock, so they said that they would have to get it from the warehouse. They said everything would be delivered within 4 weeks, could be sooner too.

Today it is July24th, the only thing they have to say is, the warehouse was closed down for vacation and that caused a halt in the production. The manager of the store personally called me saying the love seat and the sofa have arrived but the rest have not. Each time I call it is the same reason that I hear and that they have no estimated date yet. I asked them to deliver the sofa and love seat but they refuse to make a delivery twice since the dining room furniture will have to be delivered again.

They expect me to pay an extra charge for delivering my dining set although it is their fault of not having kept the promise of delivering on time.

I am totally frustrated with their service.
