Social Media
How disgraceful all social media has become, We are allowing these
companies Google, Twitter, Facebook and U-tube to controls us, just like a dictatorship/Communist country. We may need to revert to old methods of getting the news out to the American people. We have had enough of these companies controlling what we watch and what we hear.
User's recommendation: Do Not allow Social Media to control what they want you to see and hear !
ARGSETY
Today I'd like to introduce someone who attended Social Media Marketing World and ended up working full time for the company. Hers is one of many stories that come from attending conferences like ours.
You'll be surprised at the way her story ends… The subject line of my email was, "Will work for Social Media Marketing World ticket..." Back then, I faced the daunting task of returning to work after 12 years as a stay-at-home-mom. I had a 90s-era degree and a resume full of prior jobs like 'MarCom Associate,' but knew my skills were horribly out of date. I turned to Social Media Examiner to learn all I could. When I got an email announcing their conference--in my home town--I got excited.
There was no way I could afford it, but I followed the tip of a friend and offered to work for free. I'd read on the blog that you should tell your story; let your readers get to know you, so I kept it real: "I left the corporate world in 2000. Marketing concepts are the same," I wrote, "but all the tools have changed. At my last job, I was doing print ads and bingo cards, remember those?" Something must have clicked, because I got a phone call from a nice guy named Phil.
I was IN as a volunteer.
The conference came. I arrived early, stayed late, jumped at the chance to do the grunt work nobody else wanted, and was the best darn human arrow EVER.
