Snap In Carpet by Custom Marine Carpet

I spent over $1100 on a 4-piece replacement carpet kit for my Chaparral boat. Part of the ordering process requires you to select the exact boat that you have (make, model, year) and that information brings up a carpet template that they state is 'specific' to your boat.

Upon installation of the new carpet 3 of the 4 pieces fit correctly, but the 4th piece did not (I have a pedestal base on the deck that takes a table and requires the carpet to have a cutout where the base is - the cutout was completely off-center which looks awful). I contacted customer service, sent them some pictures of the problem, and was horrified at their response which in summary was: The piece of carpet is still functional! They were not prepared to re cut the carpet correctly at their expense, but if I sent them a new custom template for the bad piece (that I would need to create) and paid them an additional $545 plus shipping they would do it!! It is absolutely shocking to me that a company would advertise specific templates that are not accurate (or if it was accurate, was cut incorrectly) and then expect the customer to pay to correct their mistake.

The whole point of being able to choose an existing specific template is that you dont then have to go to the trouble of creating your own custom templates and sending those in. Furthermore it is reasonable for a customer to expect that the advertised templates on their website are in fact accurate.

There are plenty of other choices out there for replacement boat carpets. I chose this company on the basis that they advertised specific templates for my boat which turned out to be false. Whether the template was incorrect or they cut the carpet incorrectly, I now have a new carpet that I paid a lot of money for and which looks awful.

Their solution to the problem is to pay them more money to fix it!

I would suggest that any prospective buyers give this company a wide berth and take your business elsewhere. Don
