Awful Experience with Cleaning

  • - Went for a 3 pm cleaning with fillings requested; the office was overbooked, I waited long, and I was charged for incomplete work; I won't return.

Hello,

I went to Smiley Dental Potranco last week for my 6 month cleaning and for fillings I needed for my sensitive teeth. I got there roughy around 2:45 for my appointment at 3.

When I set the appointment I specifically told the person making the appointment that I wanted my fillings done. When I got there the office was really busy, which I didnt think much of. When I sat down for my cleaning everything seemed normal. When the dentist started my cleaning and outlined which teeth needed fillings I said I wanted to do the fillings that day because I have dental anxiety.

I mentioned several times throughout the visit that I wanted the fillings that day as I had mentioned when I set the appointment. The dentist left and I sat there for about 45 minutes until they came in with the price I would pay that day. I paid for the fillings and then sat there for a long time. Around 4:30 I got out of the chair because my rheumatoid arthritis was bothering me and I couldnt sit in the chair any longer.

Some of the girls around the office came in to check on me periodically and I said I needed water. She then showed me how to use the water tool to get water, which was a bit dehumanizing. Somebody else asked me later if I needed water and brought me a bottle. At 5 pm I decided I had waited long enough.

The girls had showed me how packed the schedule was and they wouldnt likely get to my fillings until around 5:30, at least, by my estimation. I asked to leave and mentioned my filling wasnt finished as they had not polished me teeth. I made an appointment to finish my cleaning and get my fillings on Monday. After leaving I was so upset as nothing that I came there for was completed, not even my cleaning but yet I had been charged.

I decided to cancel my appointment on Monday as I have lost trust in this office and was told if I want my money back I will have to return for it to be refunded. I also noticed my cleaning was already billed to my insurance despite the work not being completed. Overall, I am horrified about how I was treated and how the office is run. The staff was very nice but it was obvious that they were far overbooked.

There were still people being checked in at 5 when I left and there was a full waiting room. As soon as I was ushered out of the room a new patient was put in it.

I will not be returning other than to get my money back and I hope you will amend your practices to avoid this. Customer service has obviously gone out the window in favor of profits.

Preferred solution: Apology

  • - Chose Smiley Dental on N. Lamar; consented to insurance-covered work.
  • - Billed $1800 with unsatisfactory temporary teeth; no reply after a week.

I chose Smiley Dental Office on N. Lamar location in Austin, TX.

Before their services were agreed upon, I consented only to the work that my insurance covered and nothing extra. However, after the dental work, I was presented with a bill of $1800 and temporary teeth with an unsatisfactory appearance along with the care of my mouth. I have addressed this at the office with the dental doctor who performed the work and the front office receptionist, Cindy. The doctor's response was that he did the necessary work, not what I could afford.

I am disabled, living on a fixed income. The receptionist gave me a manager's name, Lola Flores, and a number, and I have called and left messages for an entire week. I am here now trying to get a resolution. Please respond and let me know what I can do from here.

The office on N. Lamar has the replacement teeth and the doctor said that my other options were to wait until next year when my dental coverage can pay for the two teeth because they maxed out my coverage for 2025. Even then, I would have to be re-examined and refitted.

So I have two chalked teeth and the office has the actual teeth fitted for me and yet I can't afford to have them fitted. Please help me.

Cons:
  • Did not follow request of patient

Preferred solution: My replacement teeth
