AI Highlights
  • - Long-time patient had a poor extraction.
  • - Antibiotic denial delayed care; doctors had to intervene.
  • - Rude staff and disorganization; left me numb.

I have been a patient there for many years. Today I experienced something no would should.

I had an appt for an extraction. They denied to provide antibiotic prior to appt. I called my family dr and heart dr to send it to pharmacy. Get my antibiotic head to the office.

Call my dr to call them shared of time to confirm clarification. Get there the assistant I was provided was extremely rude and had no idea what she was doing. Paper work was not even submitted to my heart dr I had to go above and beyond to make sure it was received. Got the clarification dentist numbed my mouth than came back to state he can not provide the care due to my blood thinners when it was already cleared by all of my providers.

I was left with a numb mouth, decaying tooth. I would suggest to anyone to never go there. That place is not what it once was and a lot of the staff had no idea what they were doing.

Extremely disorganized and unprofessional. Law suit should be taken place

Cons:
  • Unprofessional
  • Negligence
  • Pain and suffering

Preferred solution: Compensation for lost time and Negligence, pain and suffering

No refund for dental services not completed

AI Highlights
  • - Smilebuilderz started a root canal but couldn't finish; a local dentist completed it.
  • - They charged $1,900; no refund after 3+ months; I won't return.

I went to smilebuilderz Urgent Care during covid lockdown. They started a root canal, but was not able to finish it at that time.

I was able to go to my local dentist to have it completed. Smilebuilderz charged me for the entire root canal which came to $1,900. That was on April 4th. They have still not refunded me despite more than multiple attempts to contact them.

It is now more than 3 months later.

I will never go to smilebuilderz again! I will inform others of my experience.

User's recommendation: A totally unethical business. Other dentists can manage emergencies

Took a full set of unncessary films

AI Highlights
  • - There was an emergency for a lower right molar.
  • - They demanded a full film set.
  • - Refused to email films from my other dentist; won't return.

I had a set of films taken at the specialty practice in October of 2018. I saw Smile Builderz for an emergency on my lower right molar.

I told them I just a full set of films taken 2 months ago. They said in order for them to treat me I had to have a full set taken at their office, they refused to contact my other dentist to have the films e mailed over. Completely unethical.

Concerned only about taking your money. I will never go back

Huge Rip Off

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - They billed me for a four-year-old balance due to a system glitch, charged late fees on the old bill and a canceled missed appointment, and I paid to avoid credit impact.

They sent me a bill from 4 years ago stating that they had a glitch in their system! DO NO GO TO THEM!

THEY ARE A RIPOFF. The billing system is very unprofessional to do something like this. It was my word against theirs but to keep it from going on my credit report and being the honest person I am, I paid it. I have LESS problems going to another Dentist than when I was going to them.

They will do anything to screw up your teeth to keep getting your business only to rip you off. Then they tried charging me late fees for this bill they sent me from years ago??? Are they crazy or just money hungry? I highly suggest to find another dentist before ever making an appointment there.

They even charged me for a missed appointment which I called in to cancel. Beyond ignorance!

Smilebuilderz - Dental Service Review

AI Highlights
  • - They initially accepted our autistic son's insurance.
  • - Crowns were said to prevent cavities, but a cavity formed.

This is set up as a huge money pit. They accepted our adult autistic son's ins.

At first. I was told if he gets all his teeth with crowns he won't get cavities. Well first of all that is not true. He now has a cavity where the crown is.

He needs sedated to do any work at all. After all was said and done. 8000.00 later that ins.

Won't pay so he had a payment plan set up and now they dropped his insurance!!! They sure know how to sugarcoat it all.

Smilebuilderz - Dental Filling Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Silver filling placed against my rejection led to a root canal; second visit advised fluoride, but tooth turned black and needed a root canal.

Went two times there. Never again and I am filing a suit on them.

First they said I need a filing. I told them I can't have silver in my mouth my body rejects it. They put silver in. Later it went bad and then I need a root canal.

2nd time I went for a toothache and dr said I just need fluoride on tooth. 2 months later it went black and now saying I needed a root canal the whole time. They get kick backs on this stuff. Stay away from them!!!

One dr says one thing while the next dr says something else. It's a joke

Go somewhere else as the tooth is likely dead and needs extraction. University Dental Schools are a great option if $ is an issue.

Stay away from chain dental companies as they are almost without exception garbage care. I have heard so many horror stories about dental chains it's truly sad.

Smilebuilderz Customer Care Review

AI Highlights
  • - Went in at 4:00 Monday for a toothache; told to wait hours or book next day, then could not be seen due to understaffing.

Urgent dental care ?? NOT.

My son went in at 4:00 Monday for a severe toothache. He was told he could wait around for a couple hours to POSSIBLY be seen that day, or make an appointment for the next day.

He chose to make an appointment. When he showed up for the appointment, he was told he could not be seen because they were understaffed.

Bad Referral and Worse Customer Service

AI Highlights
  • - Smilebuilderz said a night guard is needed for TMJ and gave three referrals.
  • - The referral visit cost $85 and Smilebuilderz won't cover it.

Last week I took my daughter to Smilebuilderz for an appointment with their oral surgeon. He told us he is concerned about her TMJ and that she would need to be fitted for a night guard to help alleviate her lock jaw and pain.

He told us he didn't do it there but gave us a list of 3 other oral surgeons to call who could make the night guard for her. We got an appointment quickly with one of the referrals. When we went in to meet with the new oral surgeon, they told us she needs a night guard but they don't do that there and they would give us a referral. That appointment took an hour and $85.

I went back to Smilebuilderz to tell them what happened and requested they cover my $85 office visit, considering that THEY sent me there and the visit was useless. They told me they couldn't honor that request and basically it wasn't their fault or problem.

SMILEBUILDERZ - DON'T GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - There was severe pain during a pulpotomy and nerve numbness.
  • - Charged $69 for an exam covered by insurance; nonpayment claimed.
  • - Not recommended.

I went to the Ephrata PA smilebuilderz in December to have a pulpotomy done on one of my molars. Have to say that was the worst pain I have ever felt at any dentist office.

It was more pain in a single visit than all the past dental visits combined!!! The woman actually had to inject novacane directly into my nerve to get it numb. Imagine how that felt, I wanted to punch her in the face. I am 47 years old, so it goes without saying, that was extremely painful.

On top of that, they are a participating provider in my dental insurance and they charged my 69.00 for a limited oral exam that is 100% covered by my insurance. And on top of that, after my insurance company called them about them stealing 69.00 from me, they said they are holding it because they didn't get paid from the insurance company. Even though I am looking at the claim form and see that my insurance company paid for the limited oral exam. That's how I knew they ripped me off.

They are liars and cheaters. Don't waste your time there, go anywhere else!!!!!!!

Smilebuilderz Customer Care Review

AI Highlights
  • - Partial still doesn't fit after five months.
  • - First dentist wasn't there on surgery day.
  • - Customer service is poor and I feel like a number.

If I could give zero stars that still wouldn't be low enough. It has been FIVE months and they still can't get my partial to fit.

Apparently my case is "difficult". They have taken so many impressions and once again I went tonight and it still does not fit! And the dentist I see is going on maternity leave so I need to be switched to a different dentist. This will be the 3rd dentist I will have seen now.

I learned that my first dentist was no longer there WHEN I GOT TO THE OFFICE THE MORNING OF MY SURGERY!The customer service is terrible and I feel as if I'm just a number to them. I am 27 years old and I have to take my teeth out to eat which is so embarrassing when I am at a lunch meeting at work. I am a professional and the way I am being treated is barbaric. I do not understand how incompetent one office can be.

The office blames the lab and the lab blames the office.

While all long I am the one that has been suffering. Save yourselves the aggrevation and santity and go somewhere else where you will be treated with respect and keep your dignity.

Don't know what they are doing

AI Highlights
  • - Meds during removal slowed heart rate to 30s.
  • - Ambulance arranged after map had wrong directions.
  • - Bills $2,500; cardiologist says unnecessary.

On October 14 my husband, Vince, went to Smilebuiderz to simply have an impacted wisdom tooth removed and ended up in the emrgency room. Since he has high blood pressure, he was asked to bring in all his medications ahead of time. Beside medicine for high blood pressure, he also takes medicine to slow his heart rate. Duringf the procedure they gave him aditional medicine that further lowered his heart rate to a dangerous level. From what I understand a normal adult heart rate is around 72. At that time my husband's heart rate was dipping into the 30's. His blood pressure also escalated to the point where the oral surgeon told me that he needed to see is cardiologist within the next few days. Then it became--he should see him today. After that they said that they located him at the hospital and I needed to drive him there. After printing me a map, (with wrong directions) to drive him, they then decided that they had to get an ambulance. Over and over I said I'd drive him, but they pushed me into the ambulance. I called a friend and she met me at the hospital.

At the hospital, my husband's cardiologist sent him home without even looking at him. He said people with high blood pressure have it escalate during procedures like that and to make an appointment in a few days. Because of all the unnecessary bills, i called Smilebuilderz to see if they'd pay them. The Oral surgeon called back a day later and told me my husband could have a stroke and I had to get a new cardiologist if this one wouldn't see him immediately. As you can well imagine this was horribly upsetting to me. I felt a bit terrorized by this call. My husband's appointment wasn't for a week, and I didn't sleep very well at all.

Then Smilbuilderz said to bring them the bills from the ambulance and the hospital and they'd look at them. One at a time we took copies of every bill in that they caused us to have. Today, after leading us on for two months, they said they aren't paying for any of this. They won't take responsibility for their decisions. They cost us $2500. we can't even afford to pay. And get this--my husband's cardiologist said they had to very inexperienced not to know that it wasn't neccessary to send him to the hospital. He should have never been sent there.
