Smashing Resumes

I agree. Smashing Resumes took almost two months to return the final draft and cover letter. Both were garbage.

They basically take your resume and change the text. Not a single word was edited on my resume.

The cover letter was horrible as well. Used a couple of bullets from resume and placed them in a scripted cover letter.

DO NOT USE SMASHING RESUMES. Pay a friend in the career field you want to get into a few beers instead.

I bought a groupon for Smashing Resumes ($75 for supposedly a $180 value) which was the worst thing I ever did to save money. I uploaded the information and it's been 3 1/2 weeks and I still have not received my resume and cover letter.

I have called them several times but you only get a recording. I have emailed them and gotten standard responses. I have gone to the website and chatted with people that are supposedly human. I have complained to groupon.

I still have not gotten my resume.

Nobody should invest their money with this company. Nobody!

I have had the exact same experience. I believe this is a scam.

It’s been 3 weeks and no resume nor cover letter yet... I have doubts that they will just change the font size and send me back my original resume. I should have known better :(

you get what you paid for is so TRUE in this case!

I had a very similar experience using the groupon deal! They never picked up the phone or responded to my questions I sent through their website portal.

After 12 days and the aforementioned website portal inquiry, they finally sent me a slap dash version that looked very similar to what I had submitted (they had not even personalized the objective with the job title I had submitted along with the resume)AND the job I had hoped to apply for was removed by the time they responded to me. I have asked for a refund from groupon, we'll see what happens.

This company seems to be a bunch of high school or college kids with integrity who are just trying to make a few bucks by doing nothing. BEWARE, DO NOT USE SMASHINGRESUMES.COM

Please do not waste your money on this. There call them selves professionals.I did not see any professionalism in their work.

Their standard of writing is very low. Once of the previous commenter has correctly pointed out that they just put the resume in a very plain vanilla format. Their job is so shoddy.

They just copy pasted my suggestions and left empty bullet points for which sentence i asked them to remove. They do not format the resume properly.

These guys just pasted my existing resume into a very vanilla template that looks like any one of 1000s of Indian contractor's.

I have been working with them for several months to "tweak" the resume, but they're just playing on the edges. There's nothing "smashing" here; it's just "typical".

Worst Groupon Ever!

Vanessa, how did you pay them? if paypal then you can get your money back!! I did :) go to diputs on the paypal page.

They pasted my resume on a new template w/o making any change. I used a groupon coupon to buy their service.

I called Groupon and they refunded the whole amount but I must say I wasted my time. Smashing resume is a fraud run by 2-3 people. DO NOT waste your money.

If you used groupon tell them you are dissatisfied and they will refund you. If you paid through credit card raise a distute and they will help you get your money back.

I wish I would have read this before! What a waste of money!

Same thing happened to me: Received the draft and all they did was slap on the resume I provided onto a new template!

They added 1 extra sentence and 2 extra words that made no sense! Honestly, I don't mind the wait- I just want something 'smashing', not some regurgitated stuff!

God if only had I seen this review earlier!! I purchased the same groupon graduation deal and going through the same trouble as everyone.

They never pick up the call or reply back.

Not only the deal changes its description to a reply in 48 BUSINESS HOURS, it seems like they don't ever bother replying anything. I will be contacting Groupon for a refund and I hope everyone else gets there money back as well.

Thanks for the posts :) Not going to waste my $ on their current groupon deal that is running now.

I have taken action through Pay pal to try and resolve this issue, Smashing still has not responded to there request for resolution either at least now I can open a claim against them and I hope others do the same.

Got the resume editing package through groupon. They never sent me a questionnaire, I tried to get in contact with them for two weeks, finally groupon got in contact with them for me.

I filled in my questionnaire and well two weeks later nothing.

I was told they forgot to forward my file to the writer! That was a week ago. It's been five weeks!

I was able to get a refund from Groupon.

Do not do business with these people. I never got my resume and without Groupon I wouldn't of gotten my money back.

:( An update to my previous post, I still ahve not heard from them after again countless emails i have filed a dispute with pay pal and I am completely disgusted with the whole process this is what makes paying for services online a very bad taste in peoples mouths. I have to agree with everyone's post and this is a common thing that is happening to everyone.

I am a career coach and professional resume writer myself. I decided to find out what another resume writer would do with my resume. Either this place is that bad or I am that good.

The initial draft I received was, in my opinion, amateur. There were plenty of typos and inconsistencies to discuss, not to mention other comments. The delivery was several days late. I requested a re-write with a senior writer.

Customer service was severely lacking in communication. At one point, it was more than a week without hearing from them, despite five attempts on my part. (Oh, they do not count Fridays as a work day. Surprise!)

For a company whose products demand attention to detail, they seem to have no QA procedures. (I have encountered this lack of QA with another resume writing company, too.) The first draft I received from Smashing Resumes was rife with errors. In my review of their work, I smashed it.

Continuing with no attention to detail, the customer service agents did not read my e-mails carefully. The senior resume writer gave me a draft with several typos and asked me for a few pieces of information I had already provided. The phrasing of this second draft was nearly the same as the first writer's, just in a different template. I am thoroughly unimpressed.

Maybe I caught them on a bad day/week/month, but I don't think this company will survive without implementing/overhauling their training and QA procedures.

I am having a very similar experience. After numerous calls and emails I got someone telling me that I never sent in the questionnaire (which I did).

Two weeks later they told me I didn't give them enough information. Spoke with the writer on the phone and supplied him with the additional information he required and I was told I would have the draft the next day. It has been a week since. I have not received the draft and again I can't get replies to my emails and nobody ever picks up the *** phone.

Overall a very bad experience and $97.50 ($75 + $22.50 for a thank you letter) down the drain. These people should be ashamed of themselves. I filed a complaint with Groupon today.

Don't waste your time and money. Stay away from this company!

My first draft came after 1 week then they have never made the revisions or supplied the cover letter that I also purchased. It's going on 4 weeks with no resume and they have my money.

I will be letting Groupon know that they should not do business with them again. Please please don't use Smashing Resumes.

I still have not heard from them with my final draft. So much for there timeline of 24 hours and my first draft was just bullets on my existing info.

I have asked for a refund with no reply. To bad I did not go through groupon as I know I will have a *** of a time getting my money back.

Oh, boy. I had a similar experience as the others.

16 days to get a "draft" that was nothing more than adding bullets to existing language, and adding a summary statement that did not reflect the information I provided them with.

This didn't come until I sent repeated email messages, a phone message, and finally requested a refund from Groupon. What a waste of time and money.

Got my "finished" resume back today. What a joke.

These people didn't spend 15 minutes helping me. The resume is useless.

I spent $10 on resumetemplates.com and came up with a far superior product. Do yourself a favor and don't ever buy from Smashing Resumes.
