I asked a friend who had recently used their services for the contact, as they seemed to have done a good job... 3 guys, one truck, wrapping of larger furniture items - $95. / hr. I confirmed this with Mr. Juan via text message.

They arrived, only two guys. My husband and I had to take turns watching the truck, to make sure our belongings were safe. The move took 7 hours.

The truck was 1/3 full with other people's belongings: Kitchen equipment, a large sofa, boxes, etc. (What if we had enough stuff to fill the truck?). Our things were mixed in with the rest of the items in the truck.

When finished I took the check book out and only then was told that they only took cash. Shady to begin with. Went to ATM. Due to previous withdrawls, was only able to take $400. Gave them that and a check for $375, which included tip. They were not happy but took it. There was no choice. They never told me about cash only.

The next day, when opening all the boxes, we realised our printer (in its original box) was not among the things delivered. Immediately I started calling and leaving text messages, as the calls went straight into voice mail. This was on a thursday, July 2nd. By friday the 3rd we were pretty pissed off as no one got back to us.

We put a stop on the check and left a message and sent a text message letting them know to bring the check back along with the printer and we would pay the balance in cash.

Continued calling through the wekend. By the following tuesday I told my husband to call from his office, a number Smart Move was not familiar with. They picked up on the first ring. When realised with whom they were speaking, got defensive, with a huge attitude and threatened legal action. Said they would have to check which truck had been used for our move, blah, blah, blah... all BS as I don't believe they are such a large enterprise.

It is a full month later almost and we have yet to hear back from them. My last attempt to send them a text, letting them know we would be buying a new printer by July 30th, fell in blind eyes and deaf ears. No reply at all.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND SMART MOVE. They don't know how to resolve conflict and are not accountable, or responsible.
