Sloan Properties in Delray Beach - Be careful giving them a deposit

AI Highlights
  • Property for lease; $500 hold deposit paid.
  • Credit was deemed too low; two months' security required.
  • Partial refund; $225 returned.

I came to see a property for lease. The terms were for first last and security.

I agreed and gave them a $500 deposit to hold the property. After about four or five days I called and they claimed my credit score was not high enough (it is not bad at all especially for a rental unit) and I had to give them two months security deposit. I said OK but a couple of days later started to feel like this was a bad idea and called to tell them that I wanted to back out and to refund my deposit. They refused to refund my $500, claiming that they spent so much time putting my information into the computer.

After much pleading, they agreed to refund $225.

Can you imagine if I would of rented with them? I would never have seen the two months deposit back.

Loss:
$275

Preferred solution: Full refund
