I obtained an insurance policy on my retail shop. Signed up for automatic payment debits from my bank account.
Somebody on their end dropped the ball and did not process it to be debited.
They cancelled me for non-payment. And have now reported me to collections for the $900 down payment that I am to pay with no insurance coverage for my shop.
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: STAY AWAY
Excessive time between between receiving the down payment and making the payment
Was told by the company that if they received the signed finance agreement and if the down payment was made by ACH (withdrawal for bank account) that they would make the payment to the insurance company who issued the policy right away. Our agency sent the signed finance agreement and ACH form the Skipjack per their instructions, and they withdrew the money from the account the next day.
When I called to find out if the payment was sent to the insurance company, I was told that it will take 10 days for them to send out the payment because they had to wait for the funds to clear. When I informed them that the funds had cleared, I was then informed that it would still take 10 days because that was their policy. Skipjack tend to operate more like "loan sharks" rather than a reputable premium finance company.
The customer service representatives are good a expressing company policy without understanding the impact it has on customers. Until their procedures and policies are beneficial to the customer's they serve, I would not recommend doing business with them.

Skipjack premium financing drops ball!
Our insurance agency submitted paperwork to have a premium financed for a commercial client with excellent credit. We submitted all signed paperwork and sent an email to Doris at SkipJack letting her know that the paperwork had been submitted.(we have confirmation that email was received) We were told to do this by Doris so she would know to expect paperwork.
We have fax confirmation that the paperwork (finance agreement)was received and we then notified the broker that the premium was to be financed and the downpayment was mailed to Allrisk (the broker). The downpayment was cashed and the policy issued. We did receive notice from Allrisk that payment was late from the premium financing but since they had been notified that it was to be financed and skipjack has taken a long time in the past to get the check to Allrisk, we did not contact Allrisk. When we received notice of cancellation we called both and they would not admit their mistake and said "well, we have to have $ before we can contact to insurance company to see if they will reinstate".
We will never do business with a company that does not have accountability for their mistakes again. Please be warned!
